Punters have smashed into this Australian raider despite the difficulties of really equating what the form of his last run when winning a top-class heat at Randwick in April means and he is Paddy’s best backed ante-post runner at this stage.
That last victory was over six furlongs, but trainer Chris Waller is unconcerned about dropping to the minimum five opining that he is “equally as effective” over both and it’s a tough 5f at Ascot which probably rides more like a 6f contest Down Under.
The Aussies have won this four times since trailblazer Choisir in 2003 and Waller’s only previous combatant at Ascot, Brazen Beau, was runner-up in the 2015 Platinum Jubilee Stakes.

This Iffraaj colt was an eye-catcher on his only start as a two-year-old when slowly away in a back-end Newmarket novice before keeping on in the closing stages to finish four and a quarter lengths adrift of the winner.
So it wasn’t a surprise that despite running green on his seasonal reappearance in a Newbury maiden in April, he justified favouritism cosily to earn a crack at bigger and better things.
Shrewd trainer William Haggas selected a Listed race at Sandown last month and he remained unbeaten this term when keeping on well to deny Her Majesty’s Reach For The Moon by a length and a quarter.
He’s got the small matter of 2,000 Guineas hero Coroebus to beat, but if the money is right it’s doable.
Dramatised, Queen Mary Stakes, Wednesday 2.30pm
The darkest horse of this sextet, this Showcasing filly rewarded favourite backers at Newmarket in April with a promising four length victory from Malrescia despite fluffing her lines at the beginning with a tardy start.
The runner-up has franked the form in no uncertain terms by landing her next two starts in two novice races by four and a quarter lengths each time.
Northern raider Karl Burke has yet to win this contest, but has been enjoying a fine season including training winners for fun at York’s Dante Meeting and he knows exactly what is required to win an Ascot fillies’ two-year-old event having landed the Albany Stakes with Dandalla two years’ ago.

Bay Bridge, Prince Of Wales’s Stakes, Wednesday 3.40pm
Our second most popular ante-post selection, this fellow is tutored by Sir Michael Stoute, who proved any doubters wrong with his recent Derby victory, and scooted up on his seasonal debut in the Brigadier Gerard Stakes at Sandown last month.
A late maturer who failed to win in two starts as a juvenile, the Newmarket trainer brought him along beautifully during his classic campaign to win four from four, breaking his maiden before rising through the ranks to scoop a couple of handicaps and then a Listed heat.
Any horse that Sir Michael keeps in training as a four-year-old has to be respected and his Brigadier Gerard success was breath taking and full of promise.
Sea Silk Road, Ribblesdale Stakes, Thursday, 3.40pm
The second William Haggas representative in this list, this three-year-old has a similar profile to My Prospero in that she was beaten on her only juvenile start before winning both her outings this season.
There wasn’t a lot to indicate that she might be a Ribblesdale filly when never near to challenge at Kempton as a 25-1 poke last December, but she soon put that behind her with a promising five and a half length success in a Nottingham maiden last month.
Two weeks’ later she handled her next assignment in fine style when staying on under stable jockey Tom Marquand to win a Listed fillies’ contest at Goodwood.
This is a big step up in class, but Haggas won this race with Mont Etoile in 2006.

Artorius, Platinum Jubilee Stakes, Saturday, 4.20pm
Punters seem to believe that the Aussie speedsters will match their cricketing counterparts in their dominance over England in the Ascot sprints as this three-year-old has been backed despite not winning on his last eight starts.
Before that he proved himself as a top two-year-old down under when taking a Group 1 at Caulfield over 6f in February of last year.
His winless streak doesn’t really tell the whole story as he has subsequently been runner-up twice, both times denied by a head and he’s also finished third in a couple of Group 1s.
Quite what his form is worth is difficult to ascertain, but some people seem to think he’s going to go close next week.
