Grant Tuer had a great season last term and it’s been a case of hitting the crossbar too many times this year. Lion Tower ran a belter last time and likes York which is all important. A lot of the fancied horses are drawn close to him which helps too. I am drawn to the jockey booking on Animal Instinct. Ian Williams has booked William Buick to ride and he is down to his last winning mark so keep an eye on the market.
Trainer Clive Cox has lots of fancy runners this weekend and it’s interesting that Adam Kirby is opting to ride at Sandown. I think Caturra is one of the reasons he is at Sandown. When you look at the Haydock race again he was finishing the race off really well. He ran well in France in a Group 3 and ran a blinder in last year’s middle park. He has a lot of speed and I think this is perfect for him.
William Buick is going great at the head of the jockey’s championship and Kemari was a little disappointing in Dubai on his last start. His Royal Ascot win, when he beat Wordsworth, looks good. Also his win at Yarmouth in the first half of last season was solid so I am keen to have him onside.

Aleezdancer is getting the hang of things as the season is going on. In his first run of the year he was behind one of today’s rivals Outgate at Chester. He has not got the best draw but I feel when he was behind Outgate he looked rusty. With those runs under his belt, he has a lot in his favour. It’s just whether he can overcome that horrible draw in stall six.
This could be a really good day for Grant Tuer and Sam James. Showtime Mahomes did well to win over course and distance beating another one of today’s rivals Devaste. We are a little bit better off at the weights with that horse. I think the step up to 6f was perfect last time around. This son of Dabarism can be the second leg of a double for this duo.
