The one with least to prove is KEROSINE LIGHT, who started off for Donald McCain with two 2m wins and, if his pedigree is a guide, is open to significant further progress over today’s longer trip. Mulberry Hill needs to settle better than she did on last month’s handicap debut but she also still has potential and is second choice. Overthetop is a very hard horse to weigh up at present but he was a very promising novice before his long layoff.

Dual French Flat winner FREE CHAKARTE dominated from the front on her hurdling debut at Hexham on Saturday and has a very good chance to complete a quick double. Fast Style was better than Mucuna on the Flat but the latter has more persuasive stamina credentials for hurdling and may fill the forecast spot. All In Peder showed very little on the Flat but his trainer has been known to pull rabbits from hats before.
18:38 – Mortlach
Ecco and Notre Pari (preferred in that order) are both very well handicapped on old form but MORTLACH has made an excellent start to his chasing career and can continue his progress.
19:13 – Go On Chez
Thriving youngster GO ON CHEZ has won his last four chases and is taken to cope with today’s rise in grade. Danny Whizzbang is next best.

Krypton Gold produced a good performance to land a valuable prize at Ascot in March and is respected but preference is for EL BORRACHO, who is slightly ahead of the handicapper under the penalty for his recent Uttoxeter success and is evidently back in very good form.
20:23 – Sir Tivo
All four of these have something going for them but the topweight SIR TIVO (nap) was a very creditable third in higher-grade company at Warwick last month and, from today’s 2lb lower mark, can enhance his very good chasing strike-rate. Armattiekan is feared most.

Liffeydale Dreamer is 1lb ahead of the handicapper after her recent Cartmel success but she is particularly well suited by that idiosyncratic track and might be vulnerable here. TARAGRACE has done well since switched to handicaps in January and gets the vote in the hope today’s step up in trip suits.
