Don’t know what a NAPs table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets). The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the table. Let’s get to the bets.
The most appealing option is LEOPOLDS ROCK, who made an encouraging start to his handicap hurdle career in the autumn and has done well on the Flat this spring. Handicap hurdle debutant Stigwood shaped with significant promise in a Stratford novice last month and is second choice. Laura Morgan has a good record with new recruits, so it won’t be a big surprise if Sehayli provides her with another success story.
Several of these are making their handicap debuts and warrant a market check, notably Surac and Theonewedreamof. ROCK OF CANDY finished ahead of Forgetmenotblue over C&D last time and can confirm those placings to get off the mark. Breakintheclouds can run well too, while Saturday’s Listowel second The Insider can go well if turning out again.
The Kilbeggan winner Old Bill Barley will be no pushover here, and Gandy Man also makes plenty of appeal, but with her Killarney second nicely franked by the fourth (a subsequent 9l winner), a chance is taken on the first-time tongue-tie doing the trick for the John McConnell-trained HOT AS PEPPER. On The Sixth Day is a newcomer to take on board with the stable going nicely at present.
A warm little race for the grade. Top of the list is ELEGANT ERIN, who has been reinvented as a sprinter and arrives on the back of two 5f wins. She can provide trainer Paul Midgley with a fourth consecutive win in this race. The in-form King Of Tonga is 2-2 over C&D and is second choice now back here, while the consistent Stalingrad could again be thereabouts.
