CENTRAL CITY is in his best form for a while and resumed winning ways over two miles in good style at Chelmsford last week, the appreciably longer trip posing no problems, though he doesn’t look an out-and-out stayer. With that in mind, the return to shorter back on turf isn’t a concern, and he is expected to follow up under a 4 lb penalty under his regular rider. Fen Tiger could be the danger.

13:35 – Nusa Dua
NUSA DUA is from a good family and left her previous form behind on her return and handicap debut at Bath last week, well suited by the step up to a mile and a quarter but still looking rough around the edges. She left the impression that she has plenty more to offer, especially now having her stamina stretched further, and she looks a big player from the same mark with William Buick booked. Newbury-winner Australian Angel probably has more to offer, too, and she is feared most.
14:10 – Simply Sondheim
It is very hard to see past SIMPLY SONDHEIM who showed much improved form to make a winning start in handicaps and looks well treated under a 6 lb penalty. He appreciated the step up in trip, showing a sharp turn of foot to settle matters while still looking green when hitting the front. He is the type that could rack up a sequence and has been found a weak handicap here. Got Carter and My Sand Boy are a couple of other unexposed three-year-olds who could kick on now sent handicapping.
14:45 – Amanzoe
This is an interesting fillies’ handicap with several open to improvement, but it is AMANZOE who gets the vote having shaped well enough on her recent return. She was notably strong in the market that day, but wasn’t given a hard time, staying on to be nearest at the finish under a hands-and-heels ride. The return to a mile will be in her favour and she is bred to be better than an opening mark of 69. You’re On Mute similarly appeals as a likely improver and may give the selection most to do.

15:20 – Devaste
DEVASTE won a minor event for David Elsworth last year and has shaped well upon joining this yard so far. He arguably produced a career-best effort when runner-up to a well-handicapped sort in a competitive sprint at York last time, staying on well but coming from further back than the winner. He is up to winning races from this mark and is a horse to remain positive about. Roach Power should pick up a race before long judged on his encouraging reappearance at Ripon and he is next on the list.
15:55 – Beny Nahar Road
BENY NAHAR ROAD is a well-related colt who made a promising start to his career when beaten a neck by an improving filly at Chelmsford at the end of last year. His inexperience was apparent when initially subjected to pressure, but he kept on well, and is open to any amount of improvement now. The longer trip will suit on pedigree and the booking of William Buick is positive. Glorious Romance and Neandra may emerge as the chief threats.

16:25 – Under Fox
UNDER FOX shaped especially well on his return from seven months off when runner-up at Thirsk at the end of April, forced into a change of tactics after missing the kick, but finishing to good effect after coming from much further back than the other principals, while also conceding match-fitness to those in the frame. That form looks solid and with Tim Easterby in top form, a big run is expected from what looks a lenient mark. Mr Trick arrives in good form as does Coase, who continues to thrive on a busy schedule.
