Idilico (second choice) did well to finish third at Kelso considering the trouble he found early on in that race, but the suggestion is THATBEATSBANAGHER who has been very competitive in his last four handicap hurdles. His stablemate Phoenix Strike also needs respecting.

14:45 – Fightfortheroses

Ben Haslam has good prospects in the opening division and in FIGHTFORTHEROSES he’s entitled to be hopeful here as well. This 7yo has every chance on his form around Sedgefield and he should act here. On We Go looks sure to give a good account and Well Educated can also have a say.

15:15 – Coup De Pinceau

Via Dolorosa is running well again, but he wouldn’t want to keep jumping out to his right around here, as was the case at Southwell last time. COUP DE PINCEAU may have been 100-1 when winning his recent hunter chase at Cheltenham, but he has plenty of back-class and can follow up.

15:45 – Clear The Runway

Course specialist Tonto’s Spirit has to be feared off a perfectly good mark, but CLEAR THE RUNWAY just keeps on churning out the wins and this sound jumper should be well suited by this place. The downgraded Return Ticket also enters the equation.

16:20 – Fire Away

Eritage and Seddon might not do one another any favours if both insist on leading, so the suggestion is last year’s well-handicapped winner FIRE AWAY who has plenty in his favour.

This looks all about ENVIOUS EDITOR after his excellent effort in defeat at Cheltenham. He pushed the favourite close there and it’s highly unlikely that any of today’s rivals could have done the same. Matts Commission ran really well at Hexham and seems fairly reliable, so he’s second choice ahead of Tom Cody.

17:30 – Liffeydale Dreamer

Tokyo Getaway has had very few chances on good ground and is interesting with Charlotte Jones presumably preferring her to Lady Bowes, who herself is not without hope. However, LIFFEYDALE DREAMER (nap) has come back from a break with competitive efforts under both codes and returning here can only be a good thing.
