14:12 – Ted Hastings

TED HASTINGS looked a good prospect when making a successful hurdling debut at Ayr earlier this month, hitting the front before two out and quickly drawing clear from there to win by seven and a half lengths in decisive fashion. That was a fair performance and there should be more to come from him as he gains in experience over hurdles. In what is likely to develop into a match with Cirque Royal, Ted Hastings is fancied to defy a penalty to maintain his unbeaten record in this sphere.

14:47 – Exit To Where

EXIT TO WHERE has filled the runner-up spot on his last two starts and it’s surely just a matter of time before he regains the winning thread. He was beaten only two and a quarter lengths behind an unexposed Irish raider at Ayr last time, staying on well but getting no closer near the finish. Clearly thriving at present, Exit To Where is just 2 lb higher in the weights here and this looks an excellent opportunity for him to gain a deserved success.

15:22 – The Navigator

THE NAVIGATOR recorded back-to-back wins over hurdles in the spring and he confirmed his wellbeing when making it three in a row back on the Flat at Carlisle two weeks ago. That was a striking display and he remains one to be interested in now jumping again from a career-high mark. After all, he seems to be better than ever at present and the manner of his latest win over hurdles at Sedgefield in April suggests he could be capable of rating higher still.

15:57 – Brandy Mcqueen

BRANDY MCQUEEN took a step forward to open his account over hurdles at Perth earlier this month, relishing the longer trip as he kept going well to land the spoils by two and a quarter lengths. This will be tougher following a 5 lb rise in the weights, but he remains totally unexposed as a stayer. In a race where plenty of his rivals have questions to answer, he rates a very solid selection to register his second win in a row.

16:32 – Hidden Commander

HIDDEN COMMANDER won his first two starts over fences before running another good race in defeat over this course and distance last time, looking the likeliest winner for a long way (hit a low of 1.04 in-running) before getting tired late on. He can race from the same mark today whereas the horse who beat him, Castletown, is 7 lb higher in the weights. That could well be enough for Hidden Commander to turn the tables, particularly if the application of a first-time tongue strap can unlock a bit more improvement.

17:07 – Point The Way

POINT THE WAY was a comfortable winner at Perth earlier this month, only winning by a length and three-quarters but looking value for extra after meeting a bit of trouble late on. That form sets the standard in this line-up and Point The Way is clearly very effective under these conditions given how dominant he was when also winning this race 12 months ago. He is unlikely to give up his crown without a fight having shaped as if retaining all his ability last time.

17:40 – Come On Du Berlais

COME ON DU BERLAIS was unable to justify short odds when making his debut in a bumper at Ayr four weeks ago, but he still shaped very well in filling the runner-up spot, passing the post just half a length behind the winner despite showing signs of greenness. That form is the best on offer in this line-up and he seems sure to improve with the experience under his belt. As such, he is very hard to oppose as he tries to get off the mark at the second attempt.
