14:01 – Razeyna

RAZEYNA beat two subsequent winners on debut at Newbury last month, but was still green and wasn’t seen to best effect on her latest start at Newcastle. She was well supported but failed to come on as expected, though she did do well under the circumstances, a slow start not leaving her best positioned. There should be plenty more to come from her and she looks the one to beat. Doux Esprit and Postwick look the main threats.

14:35 – Origintrail

Improving with each run is ORIGINTAIL, making all to open her account in a six-furlong maiden at Ripon earlier this month, still looking rough around the edges but well in control at the finish. There should be plenty more improvement to come from her, especially now handicapping from what looks a potentially lenient mark of 78. Esken Rose could show a lot more on her second run back, while Fabiosa is another to keep on side.

15:10 – Old Port

A competitive staying handicap with the vote in favour of OLD PORT. David Evans’ charge has gone from strength-to-strength in all-weather handicaps since the turn of the year, gaining his fourth win from five starts at Wolverhampton in April, and he may have more to offer now his stamina is drawn out even further. The hat-trick seeking pair Spirit Mixer and Heart of Soul head up the dangers, whilst Liverpool Knight is also worth a look on debut for a new yard that excel with such types.

15:45 – Boardman

BOARDMAN won this race 12 months ago from a 5 lb lower mark and arrives in top form having won two of his four starts this season. He had more in hand than the official margin suggests at Thirsk last time, too, having to switch when meeting trouble in running, but displaying a good turn of foot to win cosily in the end. He loves it round here and can prove too strong for Fools Rush In, who shaped well when just in front of Boardman on return over course and distance three weeks ago.

16:20 – Self Praise

SELF PRAISE didn’t improve as expected from his debut but was a good second over five furlongs at this course earlier this month, still not looking the finished article and leaving the impression he’ll relish this step up in trip. The third in that race bolted up at Leicester ealrier in the week and Self Praise has strong claims here. Drafted, who should have learned plenty from his initial experience, can prove the biggest danger.

16:55 – Broadspear

Shaped well after eight months off when runner-up in a Thirsk maiden and, with this longer trip likely to be in range, BROADSPEAR gets the nod to go one better on handicap debut from what looks a potentially lenient mark. Wootton’sun could still have more to offer and is not taken lightly now returning to slightly calmer waters, while Roudemental’s recent third at Doncaster is backed up by the clock and he’s unlikely to be far away if seeing out this longer trip, too.

17:30 – Tuemessias Fox

TEUMESSIAS FOX is the sole three-year-old in the line-up and is weight to go well here, so looks the obvious choice now stepping up to a mile and a half for the first time. He was beaten by a potentially smart type last time and can confirm himself at least useful.
