14:30 – Another Choice

The booking of Paul Townend by Matthew Smith for ANOTHER CHOICE might prove beneficial to win this maiden hurdle at Punchestown. The five-year-old son of Hillstar returns from a break having landed a bumper when a little green under Jamie Codd at Cork last October. There’s no doubt he’ll appreciate the trip and ground on his hurdles debut with Townend having a 36% strike-rate, (5-winners from 14-runners) when teaming up with Smith over the past five-seasons.

Free Handshake has had plenty of chances but might improve for the step-up in trip following his latest placed effort at Kilbeggan last month. Salvador Ziggy also runs for the Gordon Elliott team with Jack Kennedy in the saddle, while Misty’s Gift is another on the shortlist for Harry Kelly and Sean Flanagan following consistent bumper runs last year. In summary, it’s an open looking affair with the hope Another Choice is fit enough to win under the champion jockey.

15:05 – Marshalled

MARSHALLED didn’t seem to get home and slightly struggled over a longer trip when reverting back to hurdles at Downpatrick earlier this month for Padraig Roche. The son of Flemensfirth has been consistent for connections having won twice over fences and once over hurdles and should appreciate the drop in trip in this Ladies Handicap Hurdle. Aine O’Connor is one of the leading jockeys in the field and should get an excellent spin from this horse with the better ground also an advantage.

Jodie Townend rides Lucky Tenner with Peter Fahey’s horse still a maiden over hurdles after 13 starts with his best form coming with some cut in the ground. Elsewhere, the same could be said ground wise with Shantou Lucky who returns to hurdles for Gavin Cromwell with Maxine O’Sullivan in the saddle. Rebellious Gale should be watched having won at Limerick earlier this week for Tony Martin with Cork winner Hattie Amarin another with a good chance.

16:15 – Tullybeg

TULLYBEG more than paid his way over hurdles for Noel and Valerie Moran and looks more than capable of getting off the mark on his third attempt over fences. The son of Sholokhov fell on his chasing debut here last year before finishing fourth at Kilbeggan last summer and gained further success back over hurdles at Navan and Gowran Park last autumn. He returns to the track having finished down the field in the Pertemps and will have no issues ground or trip wise on his return.

Alfa Mix has plenty of experience over fences for Gavin Cromwell and Mark Walsh and returns to Beginners company having fallen in a handicap here last month. Everglow looks the biggest danger for Noel Meade with some lovely form in the book from last season. The seven-year-old has finished behind Gabynako, Farouk D’alene and Blue Lord over fences which is solid form. Elsewhere, Lord Royal is another to warrant respect on return for Willie Mullins having been pulled-up at Christmas.

16:50 – Snugsborough Hall

Having disappointed at Aintree in early April, SNUGSBOROUGH HALL put in a subsequent solid display when finishing third on his latest start and could return to winning ways this Sunday. He was well beaten by Royal Rendezvous in the Galway Plate last year but managed to get closer to Willie

Mullins’ runner here last month and that run should see him challenge for Liam Cusack and Richie Deegan.

Mark McDonagh returns to the saddle on Birchdale having given Enda Bolger’s horse a cracking ride to win at Leopardstown in February. However, he disappointed here last month and might need to drop in the ratings before returning to winning ways. Elsewhere, Fire Attack has some lovely form in the book but the better ground is a concern while the unexposed Old Town Garde might run well on his handicap debut having previously won a Wadebridge point-to-point on good ground.
