13:00 – Immortal Beauty
Everything appeared to be fancied for the Ascot maiden in which IMMORTAL BEAUTY ran third behind two expensive recruits from the breeze-ups. The form looks worth following. Not that this will be easy, as Lady Hollywood ran an absolute cracker at Catterick and Radio Goo Goo hasn’t been doing a lot wrong. And then there are the newcomers to monitor in the betting.

13:30 – Secret State
Some untapped potential on show, but it’s very hard to ignore the claims of SECRET STATE who was a most authoritative scorer at Chester and is taken to follow up before going on to better things. Hughie Morrison’s Alyth made a promising start when fourth over C&D and can chase home Charlie Appleby’s exciting prospect with First Officer and Laasudood appealing as the pick of the remainder in the fight for minor honours.
14:00 – Fast Danseuse
Not many in here hold pressing claims. Ciao Adios could well take a step forward now handicapping at a modest level, while My Rosa’s Gold would have each-way claims at least if building on her recent Bath performance. However, the vote goes to FAST DANSEUSE whose latest fifth at Windsor is working out well and she has dropped another 2lb in the meantime. Dansemai may provide the main danger if transferring her progressive recent AW form back to turf.
14:30 – Dark Shift (nap)
The 3yo Austrian Theory remains something of an unknown quantity now taking on his elders on handicap debut, but it’s hard to know what to expect and DARK SHIFT (nap) makes much more appeal. Still lightly raced for a 4yo, his performance in the Victoria Cup was even better than it looked and with the run under his belt he should take the beating. Dubai Mirage looks the pick of the Godolphin pair and may provide the most danger.

15:05 – Gangway
Several may well show improvement now they are stepping up in trip on handicap debut, but GANGWAY has been in fine form since returning from a gelding operation, winning twice on the AW and finishing third over this C&D (form franked). Shivraj was only just denied on his Hamilton return and should appreciate this longer trip, so he may be the best alternative, ahead of Playday.
15:40 – Four Adaay
Lihou has obvious claims racing off a 3lb lower mark than when a solid fourth at Goodwood and C&D scorers Abate and Grandfather Tom also need to be factored in. The vote, though, goes to FOUR ADAAY who signalled she is ready to go in again when an excellent second over C&D and is only 1lb higher this time.

16:10 – Bamboo Bay
Lednikov must enter calculations nudged up only 1lb for his breakthrough Musselburgh success and Thirsk runner-up Blistering Barney is also weighted to have a say. However, it could be worth siding with BAMBOO BAY to take a big step forward now that he tackles this trip for the first time, off a reduced mark.
