13:35 – Blanc De Noir

Some very speedy pedigrees on display here and some colours that caught my eye in this are those of Blanc De Noir. This one’s trained by Jesse Harrington and owned by Stonestreet stables, who of course had Campanelle with Wesley Ward. They love having Royal Ascot runners and it’s interesting that this lad is pitched in here. Blanc De Noir is a half brother to Havana Grey who was a very good two-year-old for Karl Burke.

14:10 – Tough Talk

I thought Tough Talk, a son of Kingman, battled on really well at the Curragh when beating two subsequent winners. They have since put a tongue tie on to help his breathing. The danger looks like the Aidan O’Brien trained Blackbeard who is a big, strong son of No Nay Never. He dug deep to win at the track last time and over this longer trip is folly to ignore. Ger Lyons’ colt gets the nod though.

14:45 – Glen Shiel

Hollie Doyle goes over to ride the Group 1 winning Glen Shiel for Archie Watson. This is a track that suits this son of Pivotal. He has won here previously and ran a blinder finishing fourth in this race last year on heavy ground. It was his first run of the season then but he has had a run this time round and I think that will stand him in good stead.

15:20 – Native Trail

I think the ground is the key here and the fact that there’s some rain around in Ireland will suit Native Trail. This son of Oasis Dream did well in the circumstances in the English 2000 Guineas, finishing a very close 2nd but the slow round here will really suit. Buckaroo, representing Joseph O’Brian, is the danger. This son of Fastnet Rock is a winner over course and distance and was unlucky not to be unbeaten this season as Heathfield narrowly pipped him in the Ballysax at Leopardstown.

15:55 – Wordsworth

This son of Galileo is versatile on ground and having had a couple of runs does have a fitness edge on a few of these. I think that can make a difference here and Wordsworth gets the nod in a fascinating contest.

    16:30 – Max Mayhem

Joseph O’Brien has a couple in here but the one I have gone with is Max Mayhem, a really impressive winner over the course and distance. He races off 4lbs higher but is fit from a couple of runs over jumps. With Mikey Sheehy taking 3lbs off he has to be of interest in this €50,000 handicap. Moracana for Sheila Lavery is a danger, he won a nice race at Leopardstown and could just be underestimated.

    17:03 – Solar Breeze

I’m really pleased to see Sheila Lavery’s horses back to form. She’s a very good trainer and deserves some luck. Solar Breeze ran a super race at Naas last time I feel with a good 7lb claimer on board in Jack Cleary, she’s got the one in this competitive race.

    17:35 – Chicago Bear

Johnny Murtagh Is going along very nicely and has his team in good form. Chicago Bear was favourite for a handicap at Cork where he finished third but was a little keen that day when ridden by an apprentice. With Ben Coen taking over I think my selection will be a player here.
