13:20 – Ziggy
Back down in trip/grade, ZIGGY may be the answer. He showed good form at 1m2f/1m3f last season and looks open to further improvement this term. Second choice is Legendary Day, who made an encouraging reappearance and is worth another go beyond 1m. Imperial Command and Rafiki have possibilities if transferring their AW ability back to turf, while a few others are also very hard to dismiss.

13:55 – Tessa
A market move for one of the newcomers would be significant, with Clenched the pick of them on paper, but the vote goes to TESSA who could improve significantly on the form of her debut ten days ago. Glorious Angel had a poor draw at Chester last time and may provide the sternest opposition.
14:30 – Flotus
A competitive Cecil Frail can go to FLOTUS (nap) who possessed some high-class 2yo form and had a clear excuse when failing to live up to expectations on her reappearance. The last two runnings have gone to 3yos and the main danger could be the lightly raced Sense Of Duty, with Gale Force Maya and Ventura Diamond the pick of the older brigade.
15:05 – Satirical
The betting will be informative with six of the seven runners making their debuts. The selection is SATIRICAL, a daughter of Kingman from a useful family, but Fahari, Inanna and Lakota Sioux (preferred in that order) also make some appeal on paper. Zephina is experienced and has to be respected, but her form is over 5f and this is a big step up in trip.

15:40 – Awaal
Several of these are open to improvement and the most appealing of them is AWAAL who made all in determined fashion at Lingfield and should be just as effective on turf. Al Mubhir was disappointing at Goodwood but retains potential, while the unbeaten Aeonian has to be respected as well.
16:15 – Dougies Dream
Solanna has won his last three starts and is strongly respected back at this trip, but slight preference is for another progressive gelding in DOUGIES DREAM who made it 2-3 in handicaps when forging clear at Newcastle and is well treated under a penalty for that success. Purple Ice improved with each of his three 2yo runs and looks interesting upped to 1m on his return, while another handicap newcomer who needs a close look is Rogue Star.

16:45 – Animato
Plenty of these are unexposed. Heathen and Cap Dramont make their handicap debuts after three runs over shorter trips and could take off for the increased test of stamina. Tamilla (second choice), not beaten far by the Oaks favourite Emily Upjohn in the autumn, is a fascinating contender too. Bruno’s Gold and Rich King are on the up and have to be respected, but topweight ANIMATO can compete off the same mark as when a very close third at Beverley ten days ago and a repeat of that form might be enough.
