This looks a warm novice event and KAASIB will probably need to raise his game in order to defy a penalty, but he has the potential to do so. He landed the odds in ready fashion at Salisbury last time and that form has been franked since by the runner-up. He promises to be well suited by a step up to six furlongs and can put his experience to good use. Mischief Magic certainly looks the part on paper and confidence behind him in the betting would look significant.

13:35 – Spinaround
SPINAROUND opened his account in good style at Newmarket last season in what admittedly was a weak race and was unable to build on that when only fourth in a nursery back at that course on his final two-year-old start. However, he was gelded after, and made a promising return to action when beaten a head in second in first-time cheekpieces on his return at Wolverhampton in March, a slow start hindering his chances but he finished with a flourish. He looks on a handy mark and can prove too strong for Wodeton, who was beaten a neck by Lawful Command over course and distance last time.
14:10 – Sea Silk Road
SEA SILK ROAD was very green on her sole start last year but looked a smart prospect when opening her account after five months off at Nottingham a fortnight ago, travelling fluently and drawing clear in good style inside the final furlong. That was over an extended mile, but she promises to be well suited by this step up in trip, and is fancied to take this step up in class in her stride. Emotion also created an excellent impression when spread-eagling her field at Kempton and is next on the list.
14:45 – Montassib
MONTASSIB beat some useful types on his debut at Newcastle in 2020 and was much improved when following up after a 20-month absence at Wetherby four weeks ago. That was also his first start since undergoing a gelding operation and he barely needed to come of the bridle to score by two and a half lengths and he is potentially well treated now entering handicaps. This is a tougher assignment but he is expected to pass the test. The Attorney was most consistent last season and should be in for another solid campaign.

15:20 – Lysander
LYSANDER was unlucky in-running when finishing a place behind Lionel on his debut last season and looked potentially smart when making a winning return at Newcastle last month, impressing with how quickly he settled the race from the front. He is bred to stay this longer trip and will likely excel at it, so he is very much one to keep on the right side moving forward. Both Natural World and Aldous Huxley have better days ahead of them, too, and should ensure the selection doesn’t have things all his own way in what looks a cracking listed event.
15:55 – Ice House
The ones with experience don’t set an exacting standard so it may pay to side with one of the newcomers, with ICE HOUSE making the most appeal. She is a half-sister to several winners, notably the useful Queen of Ice, and she represents a yard that is flying at present. She is preferred to Uptime, who is another filly from a good family, but the market will likely reveal more.

16:30 – Goshen
This race revolves around high-class hurdler GOSHEN, who resumes in this sphere on an attractive mark, and will likely prove a tough nut to crack provided all goes well returned to the Flat. Mellow Magic shapes as though this trip will be within range and she is taken to reverse recent placings with Saratoga Gold, so she looks the main danger.
