I can see why Rossa Ryan has chosen Miami Girl, she was incredibly impressive at Newmarket. Carmela is the obvious danger after winning at Yarmouth when beating Jungle Time on her first start. Both were green but I did love the way MIAMI GIRL reacted to a flick from Rossa’s whip as they met the rising ground at Newmarket and the way she hit the line. I’m with her!
I was taken with Grande Dame at Ascot. She did really well to win on debut but my issue with her is that on her second start she’s going to have to run to a mark of around 100 to win the race. Perfect News had a good run behind Cachet in the Nell Gwyn so unless it’s fitness that’s going to improve her then her mark is right, while Honey Sweet was well beaten behind Noble Truth last time out. I’m going to take a chance and go with GRANDE DAME. There could be plenty in the locker.
Cockalorum ran a blinder at York in the John Smith’s Cup last July. Roger Fell’s yard hasn’t hit form just yet, however. The one that I’m going with each-way here is PARACHUTE. The first run back was at Doncaster before improving at Epsom three weeks later behind Going Gone. He looked the winner down past the two marker but didn’t get home. Ed Walker puts blinkers on Parachute for the first time and he has a chance being dropped back in trip.

As Stradivarius gets older it can’t be easier to get him fit and I’ll be surprised if Franny Norton or Chris Hayes don’t try and test his fitness. I’d hate to get beaten on a race-fit horse by one that might not be race fit. Even though she’s a six-year-old, I’ll be with SEARCH FOR A SONG as she has the run behind Kyprios at Navan under her belt.
It’s unbelievably difficult to put a figure on New Comedy as he turns up for his third career run in a handicap off a mark of 87. The jockey bookings would suggest Wild Crusade is the first string but NEW COMEDY could be the improver in the contest.
