I was impressed with Miami Girl last time out but I’m going for Pillow Talk at a bigger price. I hope she’s well drawn in stall two. She finished second at Nottingham in April but I thought she looked the best filly in the race. She could have improved significantly from that.

14:05 Newbury – Silver Samurai
Silver Samurai is the horse to be on but that’s not because William Buick has gone there to ride the Marco Botti gelding. It’s a disappointing turnout for this race and he’s the best of what could be an underwhelming bunch.
14:25 York – Girl On Film
I like Girl On Film for Rossa Ryan and Ralph Beckett. Perfect News could be the one to beat but Girl On Film could be very smart. She won on her debut at Newmarket in August and she stepped up well in the Rockfel Stakes behind Hello You and Cachet. She could have improved too.

15:00 York – Rogue Bear
Rogue Bear will be very hard to beat and he’s a fair price. He finished third in the Lincoln and was beaten by half a length in the Spring Cup at Newbury by Modern News. The step up in trip will suit him so he’s worth getting behind.
15:35 York – Thunderous
Stradivarius showed signs last season that he’s starting to regress a little and I don’t think this race will be run to suit him. Franny Norton is on Thunderous and he won’t bolt out in front to help out Stradivarius. Franny will be smart and make this a tactical race. He’ll want to push the button at the right time to catch Stradivarius out. I don’t think there’s much between the pair of them so I fancy Thunderous to get the job done. He’s had two runs this season and he finished second at Chester last week so he’s fit.
16:10 York – Speycaster
Speycaster ran really well on his return at Nottingham in April. He didn’t look 100 per cent fit that day and he could have improved plenty. He progressed with each of his runs last season so hopefully it happens again this time out. He’s up in trip too which should also suit.
