13:50 – Gaassee

GAASSEE was a rapid improver last season and rattled off the hat-trick in easy fashion without being fully extended. Given his pedigree he has every reason to improve again with another year on his back as the dam is out of the 1,000 Guineas winner Ameerat. He can get the Dante meeting off to a flyer for us.

14:25 – Aberama Gold

ABERAMA GOLD finished eighth in this contest last season when rated 102 and now finds himself perched on a very enticing mark of just 88. This contest is loaded with pace and hopefully jockey Silvestre De Sousa lets him find his feet early on as Aberama Gold has also just had a wind operation. Strike Red is a danger if they go too hard up front.

15:00 – Dragon Symbol

DRAGON SYMBOL was very unlucky with the ground conditions last season and posted some remarkable efforts in defeat. He’s already competed in five Group 1 contests and makes his return to action for Roger Varian today, having switched from Archie Watson’s yard. The sprinting division is looking for a real standout performer and he could be the answer this season.

Montatham ridden by Jim Crowley (left) wins the Clipper Logistics Handicap during day two of the Yorkshire Ebor Festival at York Racecourse on August 20, 2020 in York, England.

15:35 – Life Of Dreams

All of these are unexposed types who are open to any amount of improvement, but the Godolphin filly, LIFE OF DREAMS, could not of been more impressive on her racecourse debut at Newbury. She’s the offspring of Endless Time who was a Lancashire Oaks winner for the team and looks destined to climb a good way up the ladder. Emily Upjohn was impressive on her return but now steps into much deeper waters.

16:10 – Samburu

As of yet, SAMBURU has not been fully extended in his races to get the job done including when  carrying the 7lb penalty at Salisbury last time. He was still very raw and was looking all over the place but was well on top at the finish. This suggests we could see a pretty explosive display from him off a lowly looking rating of 88 now he tries handicapping. Who knows where his handicapping ceiling may be?
