13:50 York – Alligator Alley

Alligator Alley put up a very smart return to action on the all-weather at Wolverhampton last time on his first try for the David O’Meara stable. He was a bit keen and gassy in the early stages, but he swung wide around the outside and hit the line strongly. That should tee him up nicely for this assignment with the stable jockey Daniel Tudhope taking over the steering.

14:05 Salisbury – Viadelamore

Viadelamore was gelded prior to his return to the racecourse at Redcar and also was asked to race over a quarter mile further, which seemed to suit him perfectly. The way he was well on top at the finish means we can expect a further jolt of improvement. A 5lb rise in the handicap may not be enough to stop him.

14:25 York – Ville De Grace

Ville De Grace was going through the gears very nicely towards the back end of last season in Listed company at Yarmouth and a Pride Stakes success at HQ. She only just failed to record another victory on her return to action at Newmarket and back on a more conventional flat, galloping track, she can pick up the winning thread again.

15:00 York – La Trinidad

La Trinidad has already got some rock-solid form in the books over this course and distance. The make-up of this race looks perfect for him to get a nice mid-division position, to be produced late in the day. His rating of 93 requires a big effort but his overall profile fresh is pretty decent. We have a major jockey upgrade with Tom Marquand taking over too.

15:35 York – Masekela

Masekela has some rock solid juvenile form. He’s been behind last year’s champion two-year-old and 2,000 Guineas runner-up Native Trail and Masekela put up a decent return to action behind Eydon, who finished fourth in the 2000 Guineas. This trip has always looked well within his compass and excellent value at the odds. Desert Crown is the one they’re all shouting about in Newmarket but he’s going to be very tight in the market.

16:10 York – Project Dante

Project Dante did well to win on his racecourse debut and then put up a super performance at the Royal Ascot meeting when looking a little unlucky in the process. His form tailed off towards the back end of 2021, but his trainer Bryan Smart has rectified the problem with a wind operation and hopefully that gets him back on track. He is right there on official ratings, but is going to be a bigger price than the ratings indicate because he comes from an ‘unfashionable’ stable.
