16:05 – Agartha
Agartha is officially the best horse in the race. She’s already had a run this season behind Homeless Songs at Leopardstown over 7f. She made the running, quickened off the bend but just seemed to get tired. She’ll be good enough to win this with a run under her belt. It’ll be interesting to see how much Aidan O’Brien’s History has improved over the winter, though.
16:35 – French Claim
The biggest concern for Manu Et Corde is the form of the Jim Bolger yard. The lack of winners at this time of the year is a slight worry. Atomic Jones was good in his couple of starts last year but I like French Claim, who was really good at Cork the last time on yielding to soft ground. He made all on that occasion and if the rain comes, he’ll get on the front end and be hard to peg back.
17:05 – Patrick Sarsfield
I was a fan of Patrick Sarsfield but he seemed to lose his way at the back end of last year. He was second to Juan Elcano in the Wolferton at last year’s Royal meeting and came back to Leopardstown and was last in the Irish Champion Stakes behind St Mark’s Basilica. He’s been keeping pretty high company and was behind Layfayette in the Devoy Stakes on his first run back this year. He handles an ease in the ground and if he can come back to his best form, he’d be the one for me.
Ruby Walsh’s Leopardstown Best Bets:
16:05 – Agartha
16:35 – French Claim
17:05 – Patrick Sarsfield
