13:45 Ascot – Screaming Petrus
SCREAMING PETRUS is probably not the class act of the field, but could quite easily be coming here on a handy starting handicap mark after three runs on the all-weather. He looks a strong stayer and could easily benefit from the switch to turf, especially with the yard being in such decent form at the Chester meeting. He’s got a feather-weight down the bottom of the field.

14:05 Lingfield – Ajrad
AJRAD has got some decent form here recently over this trip on the all-weather and previously put up a good performance off 7lb higher on the turf last season. He hasn’t managed to get his head in front from 14 races so far but this is definitely his last chance saloon as he won’t get a better opportunity in a small field with no standout improvers.
14:20 Ascot – Stowell
He’s posted strong form around here from the Royal meeting last season at Ascot and put up a good performance on his return at Newbury just 21 days ago. Al Aasy is also going to be strong in the market, but he looks a bit suspect in a finish. STOWELL rider Frankie Dettori hopefully will exploit the fact by making him dig deep over the final quarter mile. It can be another front-running masterclass.
14:40 Lingfield – United Nations
UNITED NATIONS was a big eye-catcher last time at Epsom, when only getting going right on top of the line and is looking set for a big improvement on his second try over here. Walk of Stars looked to hang left quite badly on the flat galloping track in Newbury last time and surely this test will find him out. I think a little bit each-way at 50s for The Epsom Derby could look massive if the selection bolts up here first.

15:15 Lingfield – Rogue Millennium
ROGUE MILLENNIUM picked up from the Shadwell dispersal sale for 35,000 guineas, and that is already looking a bargain after a smooth success up at Wetherby. Emily Dickinson is going to be very tight at the head of the market and Rogue Millennium rates the solid each-way value.
15:30 Ascot – Soft Whisper
This filly is on a bit of a recovery mission, but a reproduction of anywhere near her Listed win at Newmarket last season where the form was particularly strong would surely be good enough in this lineup. SOFT WHISPER looks the first string of the stable on jockey bookings and in a race not loaded with early speed, she can control this from the front. She can be a third winner of the season for trainer Saeed bin Suroor.

15:50 Lingfield – She Do
SHE DO put up a whole host of consistent efforts last season and saw her rating rocket after a massive performance the last two times we saw her in 2021. She may well have most fear from Chocoya of Hugo Palmer‘s but the Roger Varian trained horse’s ability to go fresh can give her a slight edge on that runner with the yard just starting to hit top form.
16:05 Ascot – One Ruler
ONE RULER is the only reason that James Doyle has switched from Lingfield and he can prove dominant in the cavalry charge of the Victoria Cup. He’s much better than a handicap and surely after this will be straight back up into Pattern Company. Most of the pace looks to be drawn in the middle and if they go in an arrow-head formation down the centre of the track, One Ruler will get plenty of daylight up towards the stand rail.
