ITV Friday gets under way here with a handicap over an extended 7f. REPERTOIRE bounced back to form at Ascot last time and escapes any penalty as that was an apprentice race. His draw could be a little better but basically he’s chucked in for Dave Simcock and Saffie Osborne.
ITV also show one race over jumps which is this handicap chase over nearly 3m. BROKEN QUEST is up in the weights but might get the hat-trick up for David Dennis and Jack Andrews who takes off a crucial 5lb. Stamina is the strong suit of my selection and, while it won’t be easy off 130, I’ll take the chance.
Now a handicap over an extended 1m2f. MUJTABA was never placed to challenge in the Lincoln and gradually weakened close to home. It’s interesting he’s stepped up in distance here which suggests connections felt everything happened too fast at Doncaster. I’ll risk him eachway for William Haggas and Jim Crowley.
This is the Group 2 Huxley over an extended 1m2f. AL AASY is a non runner so this should be at the mercy of Megallan who is back up in trip after a second to Master of the Seas at Newmarket.

The big betting race of the week in the Chester Cup over an extended 2m2f. I’m giving a squeak to the lightly raced French import HALIPHON for Ian Williams and Royston French. My selection tried two miles for the first time on his latest outing and he showed much more than a finishing position of fourth of six suggests. That looked like a race that would put him right for this and while it’s a huge question mark if he’s good enough for a race like this I’ll have a few quid eachway. Draw eight should be workable.
Finally, a conditions stakes over 5f. FLAMING RIB was hopeless in the Greenham but goes back to sprinting here and might well bang out and make all for Hugo Palmer and Ben Curtis. My hope goes with cut and due to the conditions of the race gets a fabulous racing weight.
So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas! You hear me Paddy?
