14:20 Ascot – Al Aasy

A non-runner at Chester on Friday but it is very hard to get away from AL AASY now. His early season form last year looked so strong and was a short-priced fav for the Coronation Cop at Epsom when narrowly beaten by Pyledriver. There was no disgrace in that and he can roll back into the winners’ enclosure now.

15:30 Ascot – Delta Bay

Trainer Hughie Morrison is a shrewd operator and should have this four-year-old filly DELTA BAY ready to rock for her seasonal debut. She’s highly regarded and after she won her maiden at Newmarket for her then trainer John Gosden, she ran in a good race at this track against Auria and Ready to Venture. She ran too free that day and blew her chance of winning, but re-opposes Auria on much better terms now. She is worth taking a chance on.

15:00 Haydock – Milkwood

I tipped MILKWOOD at Ayr in the Scottish Champion Hurdle where he finished behind Anna Bunina and West Cork. He looked very rusty that day. He hadn’t run for a year and it showed. He has dropped 2lbs which also helps. He will be a lot sharper today and the other one that could run really well is Herbiers at a nice price.

It’s also hard to ignore the claims of Anna Bunina as trainer John McConnell has booked Mark McDonagh to take 5lbs off which negates the rating hike for winning the Scottish Champion Hurdle.  Plenty in with chance but I’ll stick with Milkwood to win with that Ayr run under his belt now.

14:40 Lingfield – Walk Of Stars

Charlie Appleby’s WALK OF STARS is a son of Dubawi and made hard work of beating his teammate Hafit at Newbury last time. However, Hafit ran well in a Group 3 contest in France next time. Any rain will help Walk of Stars and while this doesn’t look the strongest of Derby trials on paper, we thought that last year and the second that day Adayar went on to win the Epsom Derby.

15:50 Lingfield – Symphony Perfect

Jamie Spencer riding at this weight (8st 8lbs) is the first thing that strikes me in this Group 3 7f Fillies Stakes race. There has been a change in the jockey’s allowances and that makes it tougher for some jockeys to lighter weights. SYMPHONY PERFECT ran a blinder first time out when  second at Chelmsford and contested some decent races last season.

Now getting weight as a three-year-old from the older horses it gives her a strong chance to record another win. It took seasonal debutants She Do and Chocoya a little while to really find their form last season so they may need the run.
