14:05 – Vintage Clarets

Vintage Clarets had some very solid juvenile form but admittedly that does apply to a few of the runners in this hot handicap. He was far too keen over an extra furlong on his return 21 days ago and will be much more at home back over the minimum. He’s already 10lb lower than his peak rating last season and can take advantage.

14:40 – Above The Curve

Above The Curve looked really good when winning at Leopardstown last time considering it’s very difficult to be wide on the home turn and still be as impressive in victory as she was. She’s a big leggy type and she needs to come to Chester to further her education before hopefully turning up in the big one at Epsom. Hello Jumeirah looks the main danger.

15:10 – Changingoftheguard

Changingoftheguard managed to get a deserved victory on the board at Dundalk last time and the further they went the better, as he opened up for a wide margin success. He didn’t beat a lot but the same could be said for the odds-on favourite, who has looked as if he will get well in excess of this distance further down the line. It may prove tactical and Changingoftheguard can front run and make the others dance to his tune.

15:40 – Buckshaw Village

Buckshaw Village has been dropped another 1lb by the handicapper for a very unlucky eye-catching close up fifth last time at Ripon. He returns to what could be his ideal distance and has the Chester specialist Franny Norton called in to take over in the saddle. He may not be the class performer in the lineup but he is carrying a featherweight and can skim the rail for success at a decent price.
