13:30 Chester – Star Of Lady M

Star Of Lady M beat Primrose Ridge on her debut and she had finished second in the Brocklesby at Doncaster. Primrose Ridge won at Beverley after too to frank the form. Star Of Lady M won at Ripon last time out too on heavy ground, which could come in handy due to the weather forecast. Absolutelyflawless seems the main threat but I like the look of Star Of Lady M. She sets the standard.

13:50 Newton Abbot – Rouge Vif

If Rouge Vif can’t win this, he’s in big trouble. He hasn’t impressed for Paul Nicholls but he has been running in Grade 1 and Grade 2’s. He’s back in trip now and Paul’s horses are in fine form. I’ll go with Rouge Vif but I’m not rushing to have a bet.

14:05 Chester – Vintage Clarets

Live In The Dream was very impressive at Sandown but that was on soft ground so I have slight concerns over that. It’s worth taking a chance on Vintage Clarets for Richard Fahey. He won on his second and third starts last year at Beverley and Ayr before having a crack at the Coventry.

His run at Newmarket last month on his handicap debut was much better than the result suggests. He travelled well and looked like he could have made a move late but he just weakened slightly. He’s dropped 3lbs for that so he’s worth looking at.

14:40 Chester – Moon De Vega (each way)

Above The Curve was impressive last time out at Leopardstown and she’s the one to beat. However, due to the prices, I’ll side with Moon De Vega each way. She was beaten on her first two starts at Kempton and Newmarket but she showed promise on both of those runs.

She bounced back at Doncaster in October on soft ground, beating Suffrajet, who went on to win at Nottingham on her next start. Whether Moon De Vega has the class to beat Above The Curve I’m not sure but she’s a good price in an each-way punt.

15:10 Chester – New London

New London could be a Derby contender. He won on his debut at Newmarket in October on soft ground and he returned to win last month too. He won easily enough and I was impressed with New London’s performance. I’d be very surprised if he didn’t win.

15:40 Chester – Russellinthebushes

Russellinthebushes beat the useful Instinctive Move at Chester last September in a Nursery Handicap but he didn’t quite build on it. However, he’s worth backing given his price and he’s good with cut in the grass. The trainer David Evans has a brilliant record in this race too.
