17:40 – Mountbatten

Archie Watson’s MOUNTBATTEN may well have the edge judged on his two performances on the Chelmsford Polytrack, but Tickets (second choice) and Fourth Time Lucky have also shown significant ability.

18:10 – Dougies Dream

Others might suddenly be seen in a more positive light but those who have shown up prominently in recent weeks appear to head calculations. The way in which DOUGIES DREAM (nap) won over 1m at Redcar contained promise, so he gets the vote ahead of Without Delay who looked better than the result suggests in a 7f race contested by several of today’s runners at Catterick. Ey Up Its The Boss (up in trip) and Rum Going On (winner last Thursday) look best of the rest.

18:40 – Rum Runner

Tamaska shaped well in fourth on his Doncaster reappearance but so did RUM RUNNER in second and Geoff Harker’s 7yo may now be ready for a win. Mutanaaseq also shaped well last time out and he is third on the list.

19:10 – Arrange

There are positives for all three and a tactical race is presumably in the offing but, with a good run under her belt and not fully exposed at this sort of trip, ARRANGE is the selection ahead of Evaluation, who has never run over this trip but did well for his former, high-profile connections last term when upped from 1m4f to 2m. When Gift Of Raaj won twice last season he won well.

19:40 – Pivoting

The lack of a regular front-runner complicates things. The in-form pair Ghathanfar (second choice) and Merry Secret have shown their best 6f form on straight tracks while King Of Tonga seems suited by a bare 5f these days. It could be worth taking a flyer on PIVOTING handling quick ground as he was a promising 2yo who had a bleak year in 2021 but ran much more promisingly on his Catterick reappearance on good going. Saatty, open to improvement back on turf, Hail Sezer and Lady Nectar are others to consider in a wide-open race.

20:10 – Frog And Toad

Although FROG AND TOAD‘s good form since wind surgery has been at 7f he stayed on stoutly into second at Thirsk last week and there is every chance he will be as effective back at 1m. Behind him in third Aoife’s Joy is worse off at the weights but has even less to prove over the extra furlong. Bold Territories didn’t go on from quite a promising fifth at Thirsk in August but has had a wind operation since last seen and his trainer had two good handicap wins with returners at the weekend. Broctune Red and Magical Mile can also be considered.
