Forza Orta was unlucky to bump into some talented rivals on his first four starts and he made the most of a good opportunity when getting off the mark here in September. He wasn’t quite at his best at Leicester on his final start of the campaign, but he looked better than ever when a close-up third on his return at Thirsk a few weeks ago, pulling three and a half lengths clear of the fourth. That looked like a decent race and Forza Orta, who is entitled to be sharper with the outing under his belt, makes appeal off the same mark.
14:35 Gis A Sub
Gis A Sub was an excellent second in the Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes at York last season and that is comfortably the best piece of form on offer. That run came over six furlongs but Gis A Sub is a speedy type who should prove effective over this stiff five furlongs, and he is likely to take some catching on his return.
15:10 Goodwood Glen
Goodwood Glen probably needed the run when only sixth on his reappearance and first start for Keith Dalgleish at Musselburgh a couple of weeks ago, but he took a big step forward to score at Ayr on Tuesday, staying on well to get up close home. The strength he showed at the finish of that mile-and-a-quarter event suggests he’ll be suited by this extra furlong, and he can defy a 5 lb penalty.
15:47 Shivraj
Shivraj didn’t show much in three starts in maiden and novice company last season, but he looked in need of the experience and a step up in trip. Shivraj boasts a superb pedigree, being by Invincible Spirit and out of Oaks winner Sariska, and he looks sure to appreciate this step up to a mile. He has been gelded since last seen and it would be little surprise were he to show marked improvement on this handicap debut.

Cubana Habana was slowly away on debut at Thirsk a few weeks ago and that resulted in him being held up in a steadily-run race. He was unable to overcome that disadvantage, but he still produced a promising effort, keeping on strongly in third, clocking a notable closing sectional. He is entitled to improve for that initial experience and can get off the mark here.
16:56 Kats Bob
Kats Bob shaped like needing the run on his return at Musselburgh a couple of weeks ago, while the distance of a mile might also have stretched his stamina. He is better judged on the form he showed towards the end of last season, notably his wins in seven-furlong handicaps at Ayr and Musselburgh. He is effective at this six-furlong trip and should have benefited from his recent spin, so he gets the verdict.
