13:50 – Hathlool

HATHLOOL has done well since being picked up by connections last year, winning three times on the all-weather, but he showed at Doncaster last time that he is equally effective on turf. That came over a mile and a quarter and once again he failed to settle which ultimately held him back once again. The drop back to a mile looks a good move and plenty of all-weather specialists have a good record at Ascot. Tahitian Prince enjoyed a very productive 2021 and is feared most.

14:25 – Whistle And Flute

WHITSLE AND FLUTE looked potentially useful as he made a winning debut at Bath two weeks ago, always travelling best and asserting in good fashion when asked to go win his race. He knew his job but there should be plenty more to come from him, and he represents the same connections of last year’s winner of this race who went on to score at Royal Ascot later in the season. Michaela’s Boy did well to overcome greenness at Windsor so may emerge as the main threat despite carrying a penalty also.

15:00 – Mukaddamah

MUKADDAMAH is related to several winners and she was well backed when making a winning debut at Wolverhampton in January, overcoming unfavourable circumstances and looking a lot better than the bare form achieved on the day. She was very slowly away and did well to come from rear in the manner in which she did in a steadily-run race. She can be marked up for that victory and is open to any amount of improvement now. Charlie Appleby can do little wrong at present and his debutante Eternal Pearl makes plenty of appeal on paper, so needs a close look in the betting.

15:35 – Enemy

ENEMY proved better than ever back in a British handicap on just his third start for the year when scoring in a strong handicap at Musselburgh this month and it was impossible not be impressed with the manner he did it. He sliced through the field on the bridle before powering away, recouping a big chunk of his €92,000 purchase price in one hit, and he is very interesting now moving into pattern company over a trip he should relish. Princess Zoe and Tashkan set the standard and both command respect.

16:10 – Go Bears Go

GO BEARS GO progressed right the way through last season, winning the Railway Stakes at the Curragh on his third start and matching that form when fourth to Perfect Power in the Middle Park at Newmarket. He went in blinkers on his final start, but the headgear is left off on his return, and he sets a lofty standard for his rivals to aim at. Hierarchy, who wasn’t far behind him at the Breeders’ Cup, looks the main danger.

16:40 – Valiant Prince

VALIANT PRINCE showed the benefit of a gelding operation when opening his account in style at Chelmsford in September and has gone on to win both of his starts in handicaps in Dubai this year. He proved himself smart in a first-time hood on his latest success, well in command when sent into the lead with two furlongs to go, and he is very much the one to beat in this listed contest. Sir Busker finished with running left in the Dubai Turf last month and looks the main threat dropping back down in grade.

17:10 – Mulzim

The vote in this competitive handicap goes to MULZIM, who did the job in good style at Southwell when last seen in February and, still on a handy mark, a first success on turf could be on the cards. Devil’s Angel shaped as though his turn may again be near when fifth at Beverley and he is feared, while last year’s winner Pettochside and Phoenix Star are others with strong claims.
