13:50 – Lucy Lightfoot

Dazzling Gem failed to cope with the bend at Kempton last week and probably faced quite a stiff task against two useful early-season types in any case. She can go well but both Betweenthesticks and LUCY LIGHTFOOT showed promise, in very different fashions, on their debut runs and may be the pair to focus on. Betweenthesticks got going late at Bath and will know more today, but Lucy Lightfoot is preferred in the hope that she will prove less keen with a run under her belt.

14:20 – Verreaux Eagle

Kendergarten Kop and Porterinthejungle have some uninspiring form figures, but both horses shone here last year and the return to Brighton could prompt a revival. Mobarhin (second choice) should go well back up in distance, while Kondratiev Wave went close at Windsor last time and is also feared. VERREAUX EAGLE can be the architect of her own downfall but she’s capable on her day, shaped well on her only previous visit here and could prove the answer now back down in class.

14:50 – Buxted Reel

A small field but each of the six runners have something to recommend them. Rushford, Octopus and Campese can all benefit from the step up in trip, while Alphonse Le Grande, the only previous winner in the field, and Hoffman (second choice) also still have potential over middle-distances. BUXTED REEL is another stepping up markedly in trip, but he is a half-brother to a useful stayer and this is much easier than the task he faced on his reappearance.

15:23 – Point Louise

Course regular Junoesque should make a bold bid with a recent run under her belt, with Celestial Point (second choice) also likely to leave her reappearance behind her today. POINT LOUISE is unexposed over 1m2f and she may prove the answer after a promising run at Kempton 18 days ago.

15:58 – Enfranchise

Both 3yos have untapped potential and Thunder Queen looks well worth a crack at 1m2f. Jewel In My Crown (second choice) has more to come this year but her 220-day absence tips the scales in favour of ENFRANCHISE (nap). The Johnston-trained 4yo has made good progress on the AW since last seen on turf and her latest run wasn’t as bad as her finishing position suggests.

16:33 – Dark Kris

Dual course winner Dawn View can be competitive off her current mark if ready to roll on her seasonal debut, while Priscilla’s Wish is probably worth another crack at today’s trip. However, the most obvious answer is DARK KRIS who has been in pretty good form on the AW for his new stable this year and can cope with today’s return to turf.

17:03 – Kath’s Toyboy

Macs Dilemma won well at Bath on Sunday, but he was given an enterprising ride and the race did fall apart in behind. He is respected despite the penalty but there are alternatives. Vitesse Du Son, Hope Springs, Mr Pc and Jack Ryan (second choice) have claims, but KATH’S TOYBOY ran well off this mark at Lingfield last time and he can gain a second course win.
