13:50 Sandown – Head Law

HEAD LAW has improved considerably on his last two starts despite being up to a rating of 126 after three wins and has the ability to handle good ground too. He can see off Knappers Hill.

14:05 Haydock – Boardman

I fancy BOARDMAN to get off the mark as he spent last season trying to get down to a winnable mark again. He runs off 90 now and tuned up for it by finishing fourth to Lightening Company at Redcar last time over the mile. He rattled off a three-timer over 7f last season and can start to get back to basics now off a similar mark.

14:25 Sandown – Erne River

Mister Fisher is back down to the type of grade he can win in. It’s a Grade 2 contest and that should suit as he’s been highly tried on Grade 1 company. Erne River has a bit to find on rating but in a small field on decent ground, he can upset the older horses like Nuts Well and the soft-ground loving Saint Calvados. ERNE RIVER as a seven-year-old has more upside to him than the others.

14:45 Leicester – Path Of Thunder

Just the three runners for the Listed 7f race on ITV Racing. I’m sticking with Charlie Appleby and William Buick who should be very fit from his time in Dubai.  PATH OF THUNDER‘s last run when third to Storm Damage should be good enough to win this.

15:00 Sandown – Greaneteen

There should be no excuses for Greaneteen and Nube Negra at the top of the market this time and course form just shades it for GREANETEEN. His best runs seem to come at this track and Sandown is a course that suits specialists.

15:32 Sandown – Fidux

The feature race on the card is the 3m 5g Sandown Gold Cup where Win My Wings is on a four-timer after her two impressive wins in the Eider Chase and Scottish Grand National. She pays for that now by shouldering top-weight and that may open the door for FIDUX who was a 24-length fourth to her that day but there’s a 1lb swing in the weights now. That may prove too much. There’s plenty you can make cases for, but Alan King’s charge may have improved for that run earlier this month as it was his first run since December.
