WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

17:05 – Mega Marvel

It’s hard to rule out many of these but the vote goes to MEGA MARVEL, who ended his three-race juvenile campaign with a convincing win at Newcastle and has plenty of scope for further progress in handicaps this term. Raydoun chased home a major improver on Tapeta last month and he’s feared most, though Judy’s Park has been right at the top of her game on AW recently and has claims if she can transfer her form to turf. Others to consider are Definitive Force and Variety Island.

17:35 – Kodiac Sign

Market confidence behind Tothenines could prove significant given how well his debut has worked out but the fact it’s taken over a year to get him back has to be a bit of a concern, so he’s opposed with Sir Michael Stoute’s KODIAC SIGN who looks a sure-fire improver on the back of a promising opening fourth on AW last backend. Dion Baker and Hezahunk are others with the potential for better in a race where the betting will be informative.

18:05 – Spirit Of The Bay

A fourth-place finish on her Kempton reappearance probably shouldn’t be taken to suggest the handicapper has got to grips with SPIRIT OF THE BAY as that was a decent run in a competitive race and she’s taken to resume winning ways back on turf. The main threat may come from Finery, who has done well on AW lately and a turf win last year provides hope that she can transfer that good form to the grass.

18:35 – Machito

The market should be highly informative but at this stage the vote goes to the Dandy Man colt MACHITO, who is a half-brother to two useful 2yo winners and represents a trainer with a 40% record with juveniles here in recent years. Richard Fahey has made a good start with his 2yos this season and his Villemacho is feared most, ahead of Brave Nation who has plenty of speed in his good pedigree.

19:05 – Matchless

The most solid option here is MATCHLESS, who won nicely over C&D on Lincoln weekend and the runner-up on that occasion performed quite well in a decent race at Epsom earlier in the week. Strawman did very well for the Tutty stable last season and will be a big threat if primed for this reappearance. Life On The Rocks has fewer miles on the clock than the rest of these and could also play a part on his return.

19:35 – Gustav Holst

The generally progressive In The Breeze changed hands for 78,000gns in October and is an interesting contender on his first run for Mick Appleby, but preference is for GUSTAV HOLST who hit a personal best with his close call at Windsor two weeks ago and still looks feasibly treated off his revised mark. Midrarr ran well at Wolverhampton on her recent return and is respected on this drop back in trip/grade, while Shake A Leg also has possibilities on his switch back to turf.

20:05 – Wholeofthemoon (NAP)

This can go to WHOLEOFTHEMOON (nap), who was a clear second behind a useful odds-on rival at Kempton on his return last month and is open to more progress at this new trip on his handicap debut. Polyphonic has shown plenty of promise in his four novice runs and he’s feared most, ahead of another handicap newcomer in Levitate.
