17:00 – Krystal Maze (nap)

The return to Wolverhampton should suit Caribbean Spring, while Street Poet is of interest from the same mark as when winning this last year, but KRYSTAL MAZE (nap) made a successful return at Southwell five weeks ago from six months off and with the form boosted she can follow up. Recent Lingfield first and second Bbob Alula and Reformed Character, together with City Wanderer, are others to consider.

17:35 – Bomb Squad

Gatwick Kitten starts out for new connections at a lower level than he is used to and he needs a market check, while Amazing Amaya and Jack Ryan are also of some interest. Astrophysics has to be on the shortlist with Tony Carroll’s string in such rude health but preference is for BOMB SQUAD. The selection made an encouraging start for John Mackie at Newcastle last month and this represents an ease in grade.

18:05 – Amazing Red

Haveyoumissedme and Pearl Beach would have to be feared if ready for their seasonal returns while Tribal Art is worth monitoring in the market, but this can go to AMAZING RED. He may not be as good as he was, but he is 1lb below his last winning mark and should be suited by this return to a longer trip following his recent pipe-opener at Lingfield.

18:35 – Stay Alert

Lingfield winner Lady Labelle has to be respected on her first start for Andrew Balding, but preference is for STAY ALERT who made a promising debut over 1m at Lingfield in January and is bred to relish this longer trip. Any market support for the only newcomer Golden Glance would be significant given her attractive pedigree.

19:05 – Society Lion

It may be worth giving a chance to SOCIETY LION, who has dropped 10lb below his last winning mark, gets cheekpieces for the first time and remains unexposed on the AW after just two attempts. King’s Knight looks to be on a fair mark judged on some of last season’s form while the consistent Dutch Decoy is very likely to run his race, even though others are preferred for the win.

19:35 – Vintage Choice

This looks potentially a warm little race of its type. There is likely better to come from both Encourageable and Glory Nights having shown promise on their respective debuts, while the beautifully bred debutant Awaal is well worth a market check for a stable that does so well with its newcomers. However, VINTAGE CHOICE looked well above-average in his two starts on turf last year and is taken to defy his penalty on this return to action.

20:05 – Major Gatsby

If the blinkers continue to work then Kempton winner Above It All should go close in his bid to follow up and he can confirm the form with runner-up Twilight Revenge despite being 7lb worse off. However, MAJOR GATSBY has been successful in his last two starts over this C&D and despite being relatively exposed, can return to winning form under conditions that clearly suit him.
