BROKEN SPEAR ended 2021 on a high with a win in a big field at Doncaster (7f, soft) and he has shaped better than the result on his two turf outings this year, fading each time over 1m; returning to this distance should suit (all four successes at 5f-7f) and he has to be respected.
15:55 Fakenham – Law Of Gold (Morning Star, Farringdon)
Won two hunter chases last spring (3m2f/3m3f, good), including the prestigious Horse And Hound Cup at Stratford; having been pulled up on his return from eight months off, LAW OF GOLD accounted for his only rival in a similar event at Ascot three weeks ago; today’s conditions look ideal; leading contender.

Often slowly away but that hasn’t stopped WOVEN recording several excellent second places in the last year or so, including in this race 12 months ago; again found only one too good in big field at Doncaster (good; 9-1) on reappearance; solid candidate.
16:44 Cork – It Came To Pass (888Sport, Steve Mullington)
Former Cheltenham festival Foxhunters winner comes here in fine spirits with back-to-back wins at Dromahane under his belt; IT CAME TO PASS clearly retains plenty of sparkle and will be a popular pick here to keep the ball rolling at his local track.
