13:50 – Ilaraab
This son of Wootton Bassett, ILARAAB, has some very good form to his name. He also holds one of today’s other runners Raymond Tusk on running at York last year when a comfortable victor. The ground is not a problem for him and William Haggas has his team in good form for this part of the season. Thunderous is the obvious danger with Christophe Soumillon booked to ride.
14:25 – Wild Beauty
Charlie Appleby is carrying all before him at the moment and WILD BEAUTY, daughter of the mighty Frankel, will take a bit of beating. She is bound to be tuned up for this. She is hardy, having travelled to Canada to win their Grade One last September for two year-old at Woodbine.
It is guesswork with some of the others. Majestic Glory is the dangerous one. Her season tailed off last year after winning the Sweet Solera and beat Wild Beauty a length in that Group 3 contest. Andrew Balding is not banging in the winners at the moment and that just stops me taking a punt on him with Ryan Moore in the saddle.
WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!
15:00 – Perfect Power
It’s difficult to get a handle on the three-year-olds until you’ve seen them in the paddock. I took my kids to see the mighty Frankel in this race and I have a picture that sits in my office of the three of us gazing at equine perfection. It was obvious from that day that he was going to be a star. Some of these were good as two year-olds but just because they were sharp as two-year-olds, it does not always mean they will be good as three year-olds.
Physically, others can pass them out. PERFECT POWER is the pick on form and I’m hoping he has done well over the winter. Christophe Soumillon coming over to ride is a positive.

15:35 – Irish Admiral
Saleymm had a very strong run in the Lincoln when second and a reproduction of that run is good enough to figure here. James Doyle takes the ride, he is a no-nonsense performer and I feel this could be his ideal opportunity. However, IRISH ADMIRAL who runs in the same colours, is the one. William Haggas reaches for the headgear and first-time cheekpieces could make the difference. He gets the vote with Tom Marquand booked.
