13:32 Musselburgh – Sunday Justice (each-way)

A one-mile handicap starts the ITV coverage and David and Nicola Barron’s Sunday Justice can hit the places at least. A rating of 74 on his first run in a handicap doesn’t look too bad and Connor Beasley takes the ride again after dead-heating in a Restricted Stakes race at Ripon last season with Maybe Even Never. A ‘too bad to be true’ last of five when favourite at Catterick may have been down to three races in five weeks and he can make his presence felt stepping up in trip now, from a fair draw in stall five.

13:50 Newbury – Stowell

STOWELL stepped up dramatically when winning very smoothly on his second try and putting up a decent performance in Group 2 company at the Royal meeting. Although disappointing on his final start, he had come a long way in a short time and has been given 282 days away to regroup and go again. He starts off at a realistic level back in Group 3 company and can be a middle-distance stayer to keep on the right side of.

14:25 Newbury – Wild Beauty

WILD BEAUTY sets a clear form standard for her return to action having knocked around in some very decent company last season. She’s not overly big but was a chunky, solid, two-year-old, so the early part of this season will be the right time to catch up, before the bigger, stronger, types reappear. It’s been a rocket start to the season for the Godolphin boys in blue and it looks as if it’s going to continue.

15:00 Newbury – The Wizard of Eye

He’ll probably be the outsider of the party but THE WIZARD OF EYE has a fitness edge after running in Riyadh on the dirt. He has a bit to find with Angel Bleu on their run in France, but he took a run or two to hit top form. Lusail will be a much better three-year-old this season, but I’m thinking he will be better on top of the ground.

15:35 Newbury – Irish Admiral

IRISH ADMIRAL is proving a little bit difficult to get right and so the team now reach for the cheek-pieces to help him focus. He stays over the mile after a solid run in the Lincoln. The weather looks set fair for Saturday so it could be riding slightly quicker than forecast, which will suit. He’s got loads of ability so let’s hope he puts his best foot forward.

14:04 Musselburgh – Another Batt

ANOTHER BATT brings in a strong piece of form from his run at Doncaster in the Lincoln and returns to what could prove to be his optimum distance of the long sprint 7 furlongs. He’s fairly treated but most of these are not exactly thrown in on their best form and he’s versatile regarding the ground conditions.

14:39 Musselburgh – Makanah

It looks like we’re going one more time over the cliff with MAKANAH but the race should set up perfectly with loads of natural pace in here to suit his hold-up and pounce style. He is well treated whereas a lot of these need a career-best and he should be able to take advantage. It’s the first time in quite a while that he’s dipped below triple digits in the ratings.

15:14 Musselburgh – Enemy

ENEMY has put up two very good performances in Dubai and looks as if he is coming to the boil nicely for a big return run. He can start slowly at times and wouldn’t want to give too much ground away in the early stages, but there does look a guaranteed strong pace in here from Sir Rumi and State Of Bliss which should help. Danny Tudhope is an eye-catching booking for the stable.
