Newcastle 14:00 – My Oberon

ITV Friday gets under way here with a conditions race over 1m. As long as a recent trip to Meydan has not left its mark, MY OBERON really should be too classy for this lot for Tom Marquand and the excellent William Haggas. It’s hard to say he was impressive at Southwell two runs ago, but his third to Skalleti in a Group 1 at Longchamp is better form than most of these could dream about.

Lingfield 14:20 – Asadjumeirah (each way)

ITV also show some of the action from Lingfield including this handicap over 6f. Decent little sprint, this. I’ll take a flyer with ASADJUMEIRAH who has a good draw for an animal that can be slowly away on occasions. He was well beaten at this track a few runs ago but has dropped a couple of pounds in the weights and might just fly home late. I’ll have a few quid on each way at a price.

Newcastle 14:35 – Bouttemont (each way)

Another conditions event here over 6f. This is tough. The one that interests me each way is the French raider BOUTTEMONT under Gregory Benoist. The French running style is suited to these races and my hope was a good winner at Chantilly when last seen. He’s a lightly raced improver who has gradually got better since being dropped in trip having once raced over 9f. Will be staying on well.

Lingfield 14:55 – Zameka

Another handicap here over 6f. Many of these are probably better than their current rating. The draw swings me to ZAMEKA who showed plenty of pace to score over 7f at Wolverhampton last time. The Roger Varian inmate is down a furlong here under Jack Mitchell but if the pair get a good start they may be hard to beat.

Newcastle 15:10 – El Caballo

Now a conditions race for three-year-olds over 6f. Many in form horses here. EL CABALLO will surely be hard to stop for Karl Burke and Clifford Lee. The son of Havana Gold has only had five races but has won his last four and was impressive at Lingfield last time. That was over 7f but he made all that day and has plenty of speed.

Newcastle 15:45 – Highfield Princess

Another conditions race here for fillies and mares over an extended 7f. HIGHFIELD PRINCESS went over 5f last time and did well, but most of her form is at this trip and her third in a Listed race at Ascot over 7f reads well as does a sixth behind Creative Force in the Group 1 Champions Sprint. She should be too good under Jason Hart for John Quinn.

Lingfield 16:00 – Totally Charming

Now a handicap over 1m. TOTALLY CHARMING might be the one with more to offer. He was beaten over 10f last time in a light career but had previously shown decent winning form over about this trip at Kempton and Wolverhampton. Has a good draw to work from and should put up a decent effort under Ben Curtis for the in form George Boughey.

Newcastle 16:15 – Rainbow Dreamer (each way)

It’s a conditions race for stayers here over an extended 2m. An open race. I’ll play RAINBOW DREAMER each way for Alan King and Hollie Doyle. The old boy has been a good servant and scored at Wolverhampton two runs ago. He did run a shocker at Kempton last time but I’m happy to forgive that even though he had previously had fine form at the track.

Newcastle 16:45 – Tyrrhenian Sea

Finally at Newcastle a conditions race over 1m2f. TYRRHENIAN SEA has plenty to find on ratings but the feeling is he’s much better than a 99 animal. That theory comes from a run at Kempton last time where he was a 1-2 shot and well beaten in a race featuring United Front. However, oddly my selection was blocked for a clear run time and time again and he surely would have won with a clear go at things. This should be compensation.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
