The Racing Post fancy Blackcurrent (16:30) as they preview the action.

14:10 – Mizzen You

The most appealing option is MIZZEN YOU, who wasn’t far away in any of her runs last season and fillies from her yard usually progress with racing. Mountbatten won well on his debut here only to face disqualification and he clearly has plenty of ability. Sonairt and Secret Army are next on the list.

14:45 – Hello Zabeel

It will be interesting to see if Andrew Balding can get Red Mirage back on track and, with the possibility of a solid pace up front, the reliable Aramis Grey can’t be ruled out. However, Kevin Ryan’s horses are running really well and HELLO ZABEEL appeals as the type to progress to much better things as a 4yo.

15:20 – Pips Tune

Plenty have possibilities but top of the list is the progressive 4yo PIPS TUNE, who has a record of 3-4 at this track and escapes a penalty for his front-running win over C&D last Thursday. The other last-time-out winner Boasty is feared most, although No Such Luck has been a big improver at this trip in his last two starts and he’s respected. Smokey Malone could be dangerous if he gets a good pace and some luck, while others to consider are Sammy Sunshine and Zefferino.

15:55 – U S S Michigan

This handicap will produce winners. Now gelded, Inigo Jones (second choice) could quite easily develop into a Group horse and the same is true of Trawlerman. Forest Falcon is well drawn to dominate and Group One Power has won first time out the last two seasons, while Prejudice isn’t without hope. There should also be a big run in U S S MICHIGAN, a former Ballydoyle inmate who ran a really pleasing first race for this yard behind a handicap snip at Newcastle.

16:30 – Blackcurrent

A tricky affair. BLACKCURRENT likes to lead so this track might well suit and he is well worth considering off just 2lb higher than his latest win last month. Eeh Bah Gum, of interest for his new yard following wind surgery, and Storm Melody are also considered but Porfin, who is reliable and merits close inspection, may prove next best.

17:00 – Flintstone (NAP)

It is possible that Mizmar (now blinkered) and Octopus will be among those vying for the lead, but on the back of a pleasing run at Kempton, and with Ryan Moore in the saddle, the most obvious candidate is FLINTSTONE (nap). Of the others Mackenzie Rose appeals as the type to do better at this trip, but Court Of Session has a tricky wide draw to overcome.

17:30 – Man of Riddles

A plethora of overlapping form lines, with the conundrum of a returning Merlin’s Beard added to the equation. The feasibly handicapped Orin Swift is feared but the suggestion is the progressive MAN OF RIDDLES who appeals as the type with a fraction more left in the locker.
