13:15 Newmarket – Enshrine
ENSHRINE has quite a nice pedigree coming from the family of Lady Eli. She may just be a little behind as her sister, Sacred, was quite sharp. She looked really good in the Lowther Stakes and followed up in the Nell Gwyn as a three-year-old. It’s interesting that this filly is starting her career over 7 furlongs.
13:30 Cheltenham – Bold Plan
BOLD PLAN is on a roll and is still fairly handicapped. On his best form, he is in fact still lower than when winning three years ago in a valuable handicap hurdle at Haydock so he gets the nod ahead of Captain Morgs who has lots of ability, but doesn’t always show it. He got beaten at Newbury by Onefortheroad and then disappointed next time.

13:50 Newmarket – Princess Shabnam
This daughter of Gregorian, PRINCESS SHABNAM, ran some good races last year, notably when winning a maiden at Yarmouth. She ran an okay race in the Cornwallis Stakes at Newmarket over 5 furlongs and is not too badly handicapped for this.
14:05 Cheltenham – Simply The Betts
Paul Nicholls looks like he has the UK trainers’ title race wrapped up and SIMPLY THE BETTS could cement it with victory here. The ground is fine for him, the trip is perfect and dropping back to this 2m 4f trip is much better for him.

14:25 Newmarket – Secret State
This is a really good family from the dam Jacqueline Quest who won the 1,000 Guineas, but was disqualified. His brother is Onassis and he’s a half-brother to Line of Duty and both were graded winners. It’s very difficult to get away from that. The fact that Charlie Appleby introduces this son of Dubawi, SECRET STATE, at this meeting speaks volumes.
15:00 Newmarket – Double Or Bubble
DOUBLE OR BUBBLE won a handicap at this meeting first time up last year. I know this is a step up in class but she is definitely up to it. The obvious one is Ebro River who receives all the allowances from the older horses as he is a three-year-old.

15:35 Newmarket – Native Trail
It’s very hard to get away from the unbeaten ante-post 2,000 Guineas favourite NATIVE TRAIL, the son of Oasis Dream. He won the Dewhurst Stakes here comfortably last year and even went to Ireland and won the National Stakes. He will be a tough nut to crack in his prep for the 2,000 Guineas in a few weeks time.
