13:00 – Ailie Rose

The two principals, AILIE ROSE and Hasty Brook have both shown their best form on soft/heavy ground, and much will depend on their relative abilities to cope with the forecast quicker conditions here. Stuart Crawford’s mare drops in grade after performing with credit in a Grade 3 novice last month and is given the tentative vote.

13:30 – Mourne Lass

Stuart Crawford’s mare MOURNE LASS posted a sound effort when second over hurdles at Carlisle in February and might be the answer to this run-of-the-mill maiden. That said, she doesn’t set a daunting standard and there are possible improvers lurking in the shadows. Hogan and Tfou are in that category, while the Irish-trained runners Sundrenched and Gonfalonier have interesting bumper form on their records.

14:05 – Houston Texas

C&D winner Donna’s Delight returned to form and ran a big race in defeat over 3m here last month but there could still be more to come from low-mileage 8yo HOUSTON TEXAS, who bids to complete a hat-trick after two wins at Carlisle in February. Destiny Is All looks interesting over a new trip today and is also considered.

14:40 – Hidden Commander

The most obvious answer is HIDDEN COMMANDER, who was one of two to pull well clear of the others on the final circuit at Kelso last week and kept on remorselessly for a wide-margin success. He remains unexposed over fences and looks well handicapped under a 7lb penalty. Course regular Ardera Cross will find this easier than his latest assignment and is second choice, ahead of Monsieur Co.

15:15 – Pure Surf

Today’s switch to quicker ground may enable Racks Cross to build on her encouraging handicap debut here in February but the most appealing option is PURE SURF, who returned to form and posted a good effort in a more competitive race than this at Musselburgh last month. Miss Bamby has fitness to prove after a six-month absence but may also feature.

15:50 – Your Place

10lb claimer Patrick Wadge is still seeking his first winner under rules after 62 rides but he has a good chance to get off the mark on YOUR PLACE (nap) here. Lucinda Russell’s mare bumped into a revitalised opponent two starts ago and she ran another big race in defeat at Hexham last time. Shoeshine Boy has also been knocking loudly at the door and is feared most. You Some Boy may yet resume the progress he made during the winter, while Walkonthewildside and Release The Kraken are both unexposed.

16:20 – Geromino

Douglas Talking made a very good start to his chasing career in February and probably still has potential but he weakened quickly before falling on his latest outing and may prefer slower ground than he’s likely to encounter here. Preference is for good-ground specialist GEROMINO, who has already collected one small-field chase this spring.
