The Racing Post tipster likes Cudgel in the 14:40.

13:00 – Coolmoyne

The six-year-old COOLMOYNE took a heavy early fall on last month’s chase debut at Market Rasen but was sent off at just 11-2 and had shown promise in a novice hurdle at Newcastle previously. He retains potential and could be worth siding with today against some inconsistent veterans. Perhaps Roxyfet will be the chief threat, ahead of Choix Des Armes and Shaw’s Cross.

13:30 – Hatos

There are hints of potential elsewhere in the field but it’s probably best to concentrate on the two previous winners. HATOS scored on his hurdle debut at Chepstow in January and, with further improvement on the cards, he’s preferred to Hidor De Bersy.

14:05 – Fonzerelli

The Rebecca Menzies-trained FONZERELLI won a Listed mares’ novice at Doncaster last month and should be tough to beat under a double penalty. Marsh Wren was well beaten by the selection at Doncaster but this two-time winner can close the gap now back down in trip.

14:40 – Cudgel

Having had wind surgery, CUDGEL (nap) returned to form here last month to post his fourth course win, ahead of Hidden Cargo who has gone one better here since, and he remains on an attractive mark. Hidden Cargo is respected but the main danger could be Tumbling Dice, who remains unexposed in the cheekpieces. Wetherby runner-up Espoir Moriviere is one of a few others to consider.

15:15 – East Street

There’ll be more emphasis on stamina today than when EAST STREET was third of six over 2m3f on good ground at Haydock last month, and that should suit this lightly raced 3m point runner-up. The hat-trick-seeking High Moon is feared most now back in a handicap, with Hystery Bere and Eternally Yours others who could have parts to play.

15:50 – Shanroe Street

This revolves around whether the 14yo Ravished can return to form following his lacklustre reappearance run at Musselburgh last month. He may have needed the outing, and he has stand-out claims on last season’s best efforts, but the selection is C&D winner SHANROE STREET about whom there is no question mark regarding his current form.

16:20 – Theatre Man

Grain D’Oudairies is a very interesting newcomer for Donald McCain and JP McManus but preference is for THEATRE MAN, who was a good third on his bumper debut at Doncaster last month. Bingoo, Dear Ralphy, Konik King and Saint Bibiana have also shown promise in bumpers.
