13:40 – Cumulonimbus
CUMULONIMBUS shaped very well when finishing third on his debut at Doncaster in October, making good late headway under a hands-and-heels ride to pass the post only two lengths behind the winner. That form puts him right in the mix in this novice event and he is very much the type to go on improving as he gains in experience. His entry in the Derby suggests he is held in high regard and this looks a good opportunity for him to get off the mark before going on to bigger and better things.

14:15 – Benedict Wildes
BENEDICT WILDES produced a career best when third on his latest outing at Wolverhampton, staying on well in the straight to be beaten less than five lengths. That was a fairly useful performance and he is very much one to consider now making the switch to handicaps. After all, he already looks well treated from an opening BHA mark of 73 and the step up in trip to a mile and a quarter is likely to eke out a bit more improvement.
14:50 – Lovely Mana
LOVELY MANA proved better than ever when regaining the winning thread at Newcastle 12 days ago, making all to land the spoils by a length and a quarter (had a bit in hand). Her career stalled as a two-year-old when trained by David Loughnane, but she’s a well-made type who could do better again now that she’s back in the winning groove. She is fancied to defy a 4 lb rise in the weights here to make it two from three since joining the George Boughey yard.
15:25 – Papa Dont Preach
PAPA DON’T PREACH showed useful form when trained in France by Florian Guyader, putting up his best effort when beaten less than a length in the Flying Childers Stakes at Doncaster. That form comfortably sets the standard in this line-up and it was good to see him finally get off the mark on his debut for Charlie Hills at Wolverhampton in November, making all to justify very short odds with the minimum of fuss. It’s still early days with this yard and another bold bid seems assured if ready to go after four months off.

16:00 – Trueshan
TRUESHAN ended last season as the best stayer around after completing a hat-trick of wins in the Goodwood Cup, the Prix du Cadran and the Long Distance Cup. This will be his first appearance since October and he must concede lumps of weight to his four rivals, but it’s still very hard to oppose him given how well he progressed in 2021. He can win again before stepping back up in grade later in the season.
16:30 – Arthurs Realm
ARTHUR’S REALM produced a career-best effort to resume winning ways at Doncaster 11 days ago, hitting the front inside the final two furlongs and keeping going well from there to get the verdict by a length and three quarters. This will be tougher following a 4 lb rise in the weights, but Arthur’s Realm still appeals as by far the most solid option in this small field, particularly as several of his rivals have questions to answer.
17:00 – Plumette
PLUMETTE looked unlucky not to win when finishing a close-up third at Wolverhampton eight days ago, doing well to be beaten less than two lengths after being left with too much to do in a tactical race. Successful on her previous start at the same course, she clearly arrives here in a rich vein of form and it will be a surprise if she isn’t capable of winning more races from a BHA mark of 64.
