A market move for Saras Hope would be interesting as he’s on a lowly mark and 5f on slow ground is right up his street. He has been quiet for a while but new headgear could help turn things around. Bluella looks set to go well but the pair to appeal most are THE GLOAMING and Elzaal. A recent run at Newcastle could have brought the former on and she’s well suited by 5f on slow going.

Most of these are open to improvement and the betting should be revealing. Tilly The Filly brings solid recent handicap form into the race and can go well but POETIKEL PIECE might be the answer. She left the impression that she was better than the result in all three juvenile runs and could take a marked step forward now handicapping at a realistic level. Queen Spirit, Contactless and Prayer Matt are others who could yet do much better.
14:05 – Gamesters Icon
Back on the Flat under conditions that suit there should be a big run in GAMESTERS ICON (nap), who has been in good form over hurdles. Bollin Neil rates a solid alternative and Arrange also needs a second look.
14:40 – Beluga Gold
The two standout candidates appear to be BELUGA GOLD and Capuchinero, who showed clear promise at two and are fully effective on the forecast slow ground. The selection fluffed his lines at Kempton on his return but he took a strong hold there and could be more tractable with that behind him. He is marginally preferred today.

15:15 – Vindobala
Competitive fare. Last year’s 1-2 Parys Mountain and Chookie Dunedin, especially the latter, are high on the shortlist while Special Mayson, Carnival Zain, Redrosezorro and, at a bigger price Mutanaaseq, all have something to recommend them. VINDOBALA still appeals as being ahead of her mark when things pan out for her though and she can make it 2-2 under Paul Mulrennan.
15:50 – Myboymax
Great Ridley could take a good step forward now upped in trip for his handicap debut and market confidence behind him would look significant. Jamil has won here previously and bounced back to form over hurdles last month so he’s considered but this might be best left to MYBOYMAX. He is fully effective at this track, is on a competitive mark and shaped well on his return to action three weeks ago.
16:20 – Thin Lizzy
This looks very open but THIN LIZZY hasn’t been disgraced in AW handicaps and getting back on soft ground can see her improve. Khurumbi is bred to improve with her racing and she’s the second choice ahead of Darbucks.
