13:55 – Botanist
Plenty to consider in a competitive handicap, headed by BOTANIST, whose Newbury fourth and closing win last year read well and who remains open to improvement going beyond sprint trips for the first time. There’s not much to choose between C&D regulars Golden Spice and Buraback on revised terms, while Queen Aminatu can’t be left out of calculations.

14:25 – Bang On The Bell
Steadily progressive since handicapping, BANG ON THE BELL won easily last time and is fancied to defy a 6lb rise in the weights. Vintage Fashion is a danger if able to lead again back down from 7f.
15:00 – Big Time Maybe
Unsuited by the way the race unfolded over C&D last time BIG TIME MAYBE has a good chance of following up his 2019 win in this race. Hope Springs looks the pick of Jim Boyle’s pair, while the market will show what’s expected from Relative Choice back from a long absence.

15:35 – Protected Guest (NAP)
A number of these tend to be dropped in, with Barn Owl, who made all for his Beverley win last summer, perhaps the one most likely to take them along back in the cheekpieces. Pistoletto is worth considering back down in trip but everything looks in place for PROTECTED GUEST (nap), whose seven wins have all come in fields of eight or fewer and who’s as happy round here as anywhere.
16:10 – Three Priests
Willow Cove overcame greenness when winning on her Wolverhampton debut but the second’s subsequent win came in a handicap off a mark of just 69 and this one wll need to improve if she’s to defy a penalty. Australian Angel should do better now handed a stiffer test, but THREE PRIESTS sets the standard on her recent Wolverhampton near-miss.

16:40 – Monet’s Sunrise
Not much of a novice and one in which MONET’S SUNRISE sets the standard on last autumn’s clear Ascot third. Francesi is the obvious danger.
17:10 – Thunder Lily
Cool Vixen had Queen Of Burgundy (who may get her own way this time) and THUNDER LILY behind over C&D last Wednesday, but the latter, who was having her first run in five months and found 7f too sharp after a slow break, is fancied to turn things round. Lucayan and Sky Blue Thinking are both high in the weights after recent four-timers.
