Horse Racing tips: A 9/1 play leads the way at Southwell today

The Racing Post tipster likes William Of Orange in the first.

13:40 – William Of Orange

A real mixed bag, four of the seven runners having been pulled up on their most recent outings. However, one of them, last year’s victor WILLIAM OF ORANGE, represents a stable that has turned a corner of late after a lean spell and he’s taken to bounce back with a win from a much reduced mark. More recent C&D form is represented by Ecossais (second choice) and Steel Wave, while Roque It is still relatively lightly raced and cannot be ruled out.

14:15 – Stepney Causeway

It’s possible to make a case for all three of these, but STEPNEY CAUSEWAY‘s second to Edwardstone in the autumn stands out and his run in the competitive County Hurdle last time is best forgiven. He gets the nod ahead of the solid Hardy Du Seuil.

14:50 – Moonshine Molly

This does not look a strong race of its type and MOONSHINE MOLLY may not have to be anything special to make a winning start, with Daire Davis’s 10lb claim a bonus. Kilbarry Leader, who shaped encouragingly at Newcastle, is the obvious alternative. Chantilly Rose, like the selection an interesting newcomer, and the hooded Eleanor Dumont complete the shortlist.

15:25 – Coastguard Station

With plenty of pointing experience under his belt and following an encouraging run over hurdles last month, COASTGUARD STATION can gain a first success under rules. Daniel Deronda, useful on the Flat, can chase him home, although a market move for Mortlach on his first outing for Fergal O’Brien would be significant.

16:00 – Hillview

All Thumbs Up is interesting on his first outing for the in-form Tom Lacey but the one to beat is HILLVIEW (nap) who was awarded a race over C&D two weeks ago and almost certainly has more in the locker. Signal Point is lightly raced and dangerous if she stays, while Tea For Free (second choice) could be ready to strike after bumping into two improving rivals last time.

16:35 – Head Law

There’s a chance this could become tactical with no obvious front-runner in the field, but the hat-trick-seeking HEAD LAW has a turn of foot and still appeals as the likeliest winner. Pay The Woman, 3-3 over hurdles, should make a bold bid to maintain her unbeaten record and is preferred to Bay Of Intrigue for the forecast.

17:05 – The Wild Wild Sea

With plenty of unexposed sorts, this looks a tricky race but it could be worth taking a chance on THE WILD WILD SEA, who ran her best race following a wind operation last time and should improve again now stepped up in trip. Ange Endormi and Moscow Spy are also shortlisted.
