Horse Racing Tips: 4/1 pick in our best bets for Wolverhampton’s Saturday racing

The Racing Post likes the look of Three Platoon (19:30) at 4/1

17:30 – The Writer

This is a minefield with any number of the field open to improvement now up in trip and handicapping. Captain Kane (second choice) is the obvious starting point after his Southwell win last month and he’s high on the list, while Surrey Territories and Gurkhali Warrior bring recent placed form into the race. THE WRITER couldn’t justify his market position at Lingfield on his handicap debut last month but the penny was dropping late on and he may benefit from the addition of a visor.

18:00 – Mashaaer

Callisto Moon (second choice) can take a big step forward from her debut and she is feared, while Lucia Joy shaped nicely on debut and Eshtora is a well-bred newcomer. MASHAAER ran a fine race at Ascot on her sole start for Richard Hannon last season and can make an immediate return on the 105,000gns her new connections paid for her in February.

18:30 – Pope Gregory

An unappealing event in which Cashel, Trepidation, Giorgio Vasari and the long-absent Simply Sin (second choice) should feature prominently. POPE GREGORY is interesting on his stable debut, however, and he gets the tentative vote.

19:00 – Fly To Glory

Lethal Nymph is a newcomer of note but FLY TO GLORY has created a positive impression in his two Newcastle wins and he can maintain his unbeaten record.

19:30 – Three Platoon

Clap Your Hands (second choice) has the ability to defy a 3lb rise for last time but he won’t be able to keep on fluffing the start as he climbs the handicap. Chase The Dollar has done well for David Loughnane and should be involved but THREE PLATOON might yet have a bigger run in him and he can gain a second C&D success.

20:00 – Sarah’s Verse (NAP)

This doesn’t look overloaded with speed and that won’t suit a few, notably Amazing Amaya. With Brazen Belle likely to come on for this first start in five months this may be best left to SARAH’S VERSE (nap), who can race handily and doesn’t look on a bad mark. Light Lily is interesting on this first sprint run for some time and can give the selection most to do.

20:30 – Man of Riddles

Your Love Is King is up markedly in distance ahead of his stable debut but he could improve for it and he’s respected on his comeback. MAN OF RIDDLES found plenty for pressure when winning at Southwell four weeks ago, a performance backed up by the clock, and he can defy his small rise in the weights.
