WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!
13:00 – Wigglesworth
WIGGLESWORTH ran another solid race when filling the runner-up spot at Sedgefield last time, ultimately proving no match for the winner but sticking to his task well to pull clear of the rest. He can line up here from the same mark and Cillin Leonard, who is decent value for his 3-lb claim, also takes over in the saddle. With Dr Richard Newland in excellent form at present (six winners from his last 18 runners), Wigglesworth seems sure to give another good account.
13:35 – Rathmacknee
RATHMACKNEE shaped encouragingly when third on his hurdling debut at Huntingdon 18 days ago, passing the post only six lengths behind the winner despite looking a bit rough around the edges still. That form sets the standard in this line-up and Rathmacknee is likely to have more to offer now stepping up in trip to two and a half miles. Therefore, he rates a confident selection to get off the mark over hurdles at the second attempt.
14:10 – Neville’s Cross
NEVILLE’S CROSS ran right up to his best when last seen finding one too good at Leicester in December, staying on well to be beaten just half a length. He can line up here from an unchanged mark and today’s conditions should suit him ideally judged on his easy course-and-distance victory in November. Neville’s Cross has gone well fresh in the past, too, so he has plenty in his favour in what looks a competitive heat despite the small field.
14:45 – Maliboo
MALIBOO was sent off at very short odds and duly got the job done with the minimum of fuss at Wincanton on Wednesday. There was still plenty to like about the manner in which she dismissed her sole rival, making all to land the spoils by 27 lengths with plenty in hand. This will be a quicker than ideal turnaround, but she is potentially very well handicapped now back over hurdles, lining up from a 2 lb lower mark in this sphere than when winning over fences earlier in the week.

15:20 – Gouet des Bruyeres
GOUET DES BRUYERES was disappointing when last seen finishing only fifth at Sedgefield on Boxing Day, but he had been in good form prior to that and it’s worth pointing out that he can race from the same mark here as when registering his latest win at Worcester in September. Oliver Greenall was amongst the winners at Wetherby on Thursday and Gouet des Bruyeres is fancied to give the yard another victory here if ready to go after his absence.
15:55 – South Mountain
SOUTH MOUNTAIN showed improved form when hitting the frame on his latest outing at Taunton, only losing second in the final 50 yards. That was a fair performance and he is very much one to consider here on handicap debut. After all, he already has the look of a well-handicapped horse from an opening BHA mark of 104 and it’s highly unlikely that we’ve seen the best of him yet after only three starts over hurdles.
16:30 – Twinjets
TWINJETS was a fortunate winner of his sole outing in Irish points in December, a race in which he looked likely to finish third before being left clear at the last. Nevertheless, he clearly possesses his fair share of ability and this doesn’t look the strongest race of its type. Now with the Milton Harris yard which continues to impress this season, Twinjets could be worth siding with to make a successful debut under Rules.
