13:55 – Big Wing
Scarborough Castle and Miss Sligo are obvious players, in that order of preference, but a chance is taken that BIG WING will find some improvement for first-time headgear and open his account. This 5yo maiden is now 17lb lower than his opening mark, so has a great chance if the cheekpieces work.
WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!
14:30 – Elsals
A market move for any of the newcomers would be worth noting, but it’s hard to get away from ELSALS who showed so much promise in one start for Richard Hannon when a close third on his York debut last autumn. He has joined a stable enjoying a fine year. Ower Independence ran poorly in one outing on turf last summer, but her pedigree suggests she may be a different proposition on this surface. She may be the best alternative.
15:05 – Valentinka
Dubai Lady remains an unknown quantity while Verreaux Eagle would have a chance if settling better than last time, but VALENTINKA should be better for the run after just being worn down on last month’s Wolverhampton return. She could take some catching if again ridden positively. The hat-trick-seeking Sayifyouwill can’t be ignored in her current mood.
15:40 – Existent (NAP)
There should be plenty of pace on here, which would be to the advantage of the hat-trick-seeking EXISTENT (nap) who has managed to win his last two starts nicely despite taking a grip. He is up another 7lb, but gives the impression there is still more to come. Strong Power has improved immensely since the start of the year and can’t be ruled out despite a 30lb rise in that period, while Night On Earth has more to do but his consistency means he can’t be overlooked.
16:15 – Sarvan
Having proved so consistent so far this year, both Marion’s Boy and Coase have to be taken seriously, while Menai Bridge also makes the shortlist in his bid to maintain his perfect record on this surface. However, the vote goes to SARVAN who produced a nice turn of foot to score over C&D last time and a 5lb rise still leaves him favourably treated on the pick of his form from last summer. Arenas Del Tiempo ought to be suited by the return to this trip and should also go well.
16:50 – Schwartz
The return to 0-60 company brings C&D winner Estrela Star into the reckoning, but there are some less exposed types up against him such as Induro De Fontaine, Mindspin and SCHWARTZ. The last-named gets the vote having stepped up on previous efforts when third of 11 over C&D last month. As that was only his fifth outing, he may still have more to offer.

17:20 – Confrerie
Following his success over 1m2f last month Jeremiah Johnson is entitled to he thereabouts, as is Aiguillette if he has the race run to suit, but preference is for CONFRERIE who has won when fresh in the past and has dropped 6lb lower than when last successful. Ballybaymoonshiner is another to consider.
17:50 – Fact Or Fable
Dark Kris wasn’t up to scratch at Wolverhampton recently but he made a winning debut for this yard over 7f here previously and should still have some scope off this mark back at 1m. From a better draw FACT OR FABLE ran better than the bare result at Kempton last time and will be suited by the return to 1m. Well Prepared is also considered on his best form this winter now back from a short break.
