BENIGN DICTATOR showed improved form to win a bumper on his debut for this yard at Uttoxeter in November and still looks a work-in-progress judged by his latest effort at Southwell this month. That was just his second start over hurdles, though, and in the hope he is ridden more positively this time, a maiden hurdle such as this ought to be within his compass. Flaming Ambition clearly has a bigger performance in him and is a danger, along with Another Mystery.
13:30 – Jeffrey’s Cross
This doesn’t look a strong race at all and, JEFFERY’S CROSS, who has shown a fair level of ability on both of his starts over hurdles so far, should have no problem winning a race of this nature. He finished third to a subsequent winner at Southwell three weeks ago and he won’t have to improve much on that effort to get his head in front at the third attempt. Abegudsam and Hana Collonges, who is making her debut over hurdles, look the main threats.

14:05 – Wind Tor
WIND TOR arrives in cracking form having won her last two starts at Exeter, improving a bit more for her latest success nine days ago and seeming well suited by a switch to more positive riding tactics. She looks well-in turned out under a 7 lb penalty and can go well for this rider who is building a good rapport with Wind Tor. The least exposed contender in the line-up is Lightning Gold, who shaped encouragingly on her chasing debut at the start of the month can prove to be the main danger.
14:40 – Just A Whim
JUST A WHIM posted a good third over course and distance last month and gets the vote here as she can race off a 3 lb lower mark now. She is a tentative selection ahead of Realms of Fire, who will be a big threat if backing up his good effort (still close up when falling two out) in the same contest, while Taunton-third Money Spinner is another to consider with few miles still on the clock.
15:15 – Prince Escalus
PRINCE ESCALUS looks a horse to keep on the right side having won his last two starts in grand style, once again proving a natural in the jumping department at Hereford last time, and this enthusiastic front-runner should be capable of completing his hat-trick here. Casa Tall is only 1 lb higher than for his latest win and remains with potential to improve past his mark, whilst Rockstar Ronnie may be third best.
15:50 – Punctuation
PUNCTUATION was fairly useful on the Flat for Andrew Balding and he is an imposing type physically, very much the type to better that form over hurdles, and he seems to be realising his potential now having made it two from two in this sphere for Fergal O’Brien. He made harder work of his latest victory but that looks strong form for the grade and he should be able to notch another win having been raised 8 lb in the weights since. Head Law, who could have been let in lightly off a mark of 109, may prove the biggest danger.

16:25 – Not That Fuisse
NOT THAT FUISSE made the most of a good opportunity to get off the mark in this sphere at Fakenham two weeks ago and earns the vote to build on that and score again with the drop back in trip not expected to hold any fears. Stratagem put his best foot forward to score himself at Ludlow eight days ago and will be a big player if replicating that here.
16:58 – Ginny’s Destiny
The well-bred GINNY’S DESTINY is the percentage call on the back of his encouraging second at Exeter last month, although a strong market move for Nicky Henderson newcomers Hands Off, the mount of Nico de Boinville, or Attacca, another with an attractive pedigree, would put a slightly different slant on things.
