17:30 – Coase

COASE goes well at this track, and scored with a bit up his sleeve here three days ago, gaining due reward for a string of consistent efforts. He appears to be thriving off his racing at present and it’s easy to see him running another big race under a 5 lb penalty. Daheer wasn’t seen to best effect at Wolverhampton last time having been trapped wide with no cover so he’s a player, as is Prejudice, who returned to form with a good second over course and distance recently.

18:00 – Moonis

MOONIS is bred to be smart and is sure to have derived plenty from his debut at Kempton last month where he looked as though he would come on for the run mentally and fitness-wise. It was interesting how strong he was in the market on that occasion and should relish this longer trip, so he gets the nod to make his second start a winning one. Giavellotto belied huge odds to make a successful debut at the same venue in December and is a big threat with improvement on the cards.

18:30 – Phoenix Star

This looks pretty open on the whole and the vote goes to PHOENIX STAR, who put in good late work when a close third off this mark at Southwell on his latest start in January. He finished never nearer than at the finish that day, so will be suited by the stiffer nature of this track, and he is on a winnable mark. Lazyitis is better than she was able to show last time and rates a major threat based on her course and distance success last month.

19:00 – Spartan Fighter

This looks competitive, but SPARTAN FIGHTER, a six-time winner at this course, always has to be respected. He was unable to complete a hat-trick at this course last time, though he ran respectably on the book, and the return to seven furlongs isn’t an issue. He seems sure to give his running once again so is hard to discount. Ulshaw Bridge is feared most on the back of his own recent course and distance victory, while Bless Him is a classy operator on his day and should have this race run to suit.

19:30 – I Know How

A case can be made for most of these, but the most persuasive one is for I KNOW HOW, who has a great record at this track, bagging his fifth course and distance victory last week. He remains well treated on the pick of his form following a 4 lb rise in the weights and is entitled to go close again. Athollblair Boy is another course specialist who heads the list of dangers with both Blackjack and Privilege worth a second look, too.

20:00 – Raydoun

Danny Tudhope is back in the saddle on RAYDOUN who can show he’s still on a good mark having got caught too far back at Southwell last time. A good winner over course and distance on his previous start, he will appreciate the return to this venue. Last-time-out winners Trois Vallees and Show Maker rate likely improvers now entering handicaps and head the dangers along with Lucky Lucky Lucky, who was runner-up on his handicap debut here when last seen in November.
