13:00 – Fifty Ball
Only four runners but it is a tricky race to solve despite the small numbers. FIFTY BALL was beaten only by a thriving sort (who won again on Friday) at Sandown earlier this month, however, and racing from the same mark here, he can resume winning ways under similar conditions. Sizable Sam looked at least as good as ever when scoring at Wincanton last time so Jeremy Scott’s charge shades the vote for the forecast spot over Saint Sonnet.

13:35 – Chavez
CHAVEZ and Minella Young were both well held last time but they set the standard on previous form, with marginal preference for the Nicholls inmate now down slightly in trip. He had previously shaped well on his hurdles debut and, clearly not one of the stable’s stars, he finds a good opporutnity here in a race lacking depth. Sam’s The Man is also capable of getting involved.
14:10 – Thyme White
THYME WHITE quickly put a mishap at this course behind him when looking a class apart when scoring with plenty in hand on his third chase start at Doncaster just after Christmas, jumping well and easily asserting. He was saved for Cheltenham after but was a non-runner on account of unsuitable ground, and is clearly thought to be well handicapped from an 8 lb higher mark. Golden Boy Grey continues to hold his form very well and can follow the selection home.
14:45 – Dr T J Eckleburg
There are plenty in with a shout and several are open to improvement, though DR T J ECKLEBURG stands out somewhat. He arrives firmly on the up having won his last two starts and is fancied to emerge on top and complete a quick hat-trick after those smooth victories at Ludlow and Taunton. Fakenham-scorer Rewired heads the lists of dangers with more expected now he steps into handicaps, with Irish-raider Vera Verto and Oceanline two others who are much respected on their respective handicap debuts.

15:20 – Bothwell Bridge
BOTHWELL BRIDGE made a bright start to his chasing career when winning at Sandown and, having had excuses for his last two starts, can get back on track with better conditions to suit following his Newbury disappointment. He remains with potential over fences and can prove too strong for Danny Kirwan, who should also appreciate the return to quicker ground following a below-par effort at Sandown last time.
15:55 – Some Chaos
SOME CHAOS has performed well on both starts in veteran company this season, winning at Chepstow on return and finishing runner-up at Carlisle last week. In between those efforts the 11-year-old found listed handicaps too much, but he can build on his latest run to get back to winning ways. Aso has been a grand servant for Venetia Williams and can go well again following his Exeter third, while Minella Encore could bounce back after a wind operation.

16:30 – Adrien Du Pont
An interesting match between a useful pair, and preference is for ADRIEN DU PONT, who looked as good as ever before departing at Wincanton last time, while Law of Gold didn’t seem himself on his latest outing. The pick of his form last season also makes him the one to beat.
