13:15 – Gaelic Arc

This doesn’t look the strongest of maiden hurdles and it could provide a decent chance for GAELIC ARC to open his account over hurdles. Speed Gang commands respect on debut for Gavin Cromwell, while The Road To Fame will be bang there if proving as effective on this ground.

13:45 – Pats Choice

A reproduction of his latest Leopardstown second would probably make PATS CHOICE tough to beat, and he is more consistent than plenty of his main rivals. Midnight It Is must show more than his recent efforts over fences but is respected on his best hurdles form, while any market support for From The Ashes would be interesting.

14:16 – Santa Rossa

The headstrong Gjoumi is the likely market leader and should be suited by this track, but it would be nice to see her settle better. Despite the issues she seems to have had, preference is for SANTA ROSSA, who bolted up in a maiden hurdle last March after 14 months off. Whether she retains that ability remains to be seen but the absence of a year is not necessarily a drawback.

14:51 – Magnor Glory

A pretty unappealing contest. Both Na Caith Tobac and topweight Nazine make plenty of appeal on their latest handicap hurdle starts at Leopardstown. Preference is for MAGNOR GLORY who didn’t quite stay 2m4f at Fairyhouse last time but is entitled to be firmly in the mix on his two previous starts.

15:26 – Fancy Foundations

A tricky affair in which there probably won’t be much between Egality Mans and Lifetime Ambition. The latter holds a rating of 141, the highest of those with official marks, while Egality Mans posted RPR of 144 when falling on chasing debut. FANCY FOUNDATIONS, whose peak RPR is 140, is another who doesn’t hold a published rating but it’s likely we haven’t seen the best of him yet. Conditions should be in his favour and this trip can yield improvement so he gets a tentative nod to upset the big two.

16:01 – Minx Tiara (nap)

An open race. Exit To The West and the consistent Brandy Harbour make appeal amongst others. The strength of the race is at the top of the handicap in all likelihood. Dinny Lacey comes into it on his fine run in the Tim Duggan here at Christmas, but most appealing is MINX TIARA (nap), consistent in good company over hurdles lately and with a 7lb pull over fences.

16:35 – Sil Ver Klass

Ricky Langford has a definite chance if he is sharp enough, while Nelly’s Money is keeping her form well and should be thereabouts. The return to good ground could be the difference here for SIL VER KLASS after a disappointing effort at Thurles and he should be hard to beat.

17:10 – Mercurey

It’s difficult to look beyond MERCUREY after his deeply impressive debut win at Gowran. On a line through the third-placed Douglas DC, he should have the measure of stablemate Impulsive Dancer, for all that the ex-Richard O’Brien-trained performer rates a smart prospect. The market is likely to prove informative when it comes to who could potentially finish third.
