13:30 – Wolsey

A few of those with form already on the board, namely Sarangani, Sicilian Vito and Rikona, have something to prove one way or another, so the vote goes to WOLSEY. Andrew Balding’s colt is yet to build on his promising debut, but he ran well when fourth behind a nice sort on his Wolverhampton return this month and would have a good chance if building on that run. Market support for the nicely bred newcomer Aldous Huxley, whose stable has a good recent record in this race, should be noted.

14:05 – Felix

The consistent FELIX has a leading chance at the weights and is taken to beat Fancy Man, who has a 3lb penalty but still looks a big player. Third choice is Father Of Jazz, who may have more to offer back on AW.

14:40 – Moliwood

Bandinelli came back very strongly in the second half of last season, rounding that campaign off with a C&D win, and he should have a huge shout today. However, watch out also for MOLIWOOD who has himself looked on the upgrade in recent starts and could find more improvement following his last-to-first win when upped to 2m here in a falsely run race in January. Imperium, who finished third that day, brings a superb C&D record and should again be seriously involved, while several others bring each-way hopes.

15:20 – Morag McCullagh

Queen Mary sixth Get Ahead has to be feared back down in class but MORAG MCCULLAGH is a very interesting rival who may well take advantage of the 7lb she receives from the Cox filly. Hodler looks best of the others with experience, while the newcomers need a market check.

15:55 – Royal Crusade

An interesting race in which the thriving pair Tommy De Vito and Whittle Le Woods both command serious respect. The latter, who represents connections that won this race five years ago, hasn’t looked back since cheekpieces were added and he is a big player but ROYAL CRUSADE may be able to defy top weight. The Godolphin runner, who won a Group 3 as a 3yo, looked very good when winning a conditions race over C&D in the autumn, ran well over 5f in Dubai ten weeks ago and could yet work his way back up into Pattern races this year.

16:30 – War In Heaven

This looks a warm little handicap. Despite having had more chances than a few, My Dubawi is likely to run his race again having just been held by a promising sort in his hat-trick bid last time. The unexposed Gold Medal and Way To Win are others to consider, but the vote goes to WAR IN HEAVEN (nap) who has won both starts at Lingfield this year despite the track not looking in his favour. This more galloping circuit and extra furlong should be right up his street.

17:00 – Stevenson

Based on his two efforts on turf last autumn, Beluga Gold would have a serious chance if returning in the same form, but with a recent run under his belt STEVENSON is given the nod. His third over C&D ten days ago was an encouraging start to his career and he must have every chance if building on it. Soi Dao has shown enough in both starts to suggest she won’t be far away.
